I think it's likely that I will upgrade however not at £199. If it has a deal on release day I may pick it up but if not I will wait for a sale.

Put unsure in the poll as cannot guarantee it will go on sale but it is likely imo and at that point I will most likely buy it.

I put Unsure, because No is too final, and Yes implies that I'll upgrade straight away.

I think Polytone and Ripley are pretty fantastic devices to have. And the sidechain tool seems to have a lot of thought put into it.

But I have been on a pretty full on creativity block for over a year now, and the poor exchange rate isn't helping things either (I know they can't help that).

I'd like to, but definitely won't be upgrading right away.

Totally. I don't expect that much from it, but I'm happy to be a part of progress and am eternally grateful even if there's a few hiccups that for the price of not a lot I can have as many subtractors, thors, europas as my computer can handle - which is rather a lot - when 15 years ago getting the budget together for having one device was a pipe dream.

I'll take some small concessions to preserve the awesomeness we have, especially as it's still evolving. NEW SYNTH TIME!

Wont upgrade at €199, way too high price for a software update. So will demo and then decide later if any offer pops up.

I'll wait until it's €79.99 on JRRShop. Happened before, it'll happen again.

I'll at least wait for an upgrade sale - possibly even skip 13 altogether. There's nothing there that I need, or even particularly want

I am new to it - why does JRRShop have reduced price and discounts?

i think they can decide for themselfes to do this discount. i bought an update once from them. enough folks here will have an eye on the jrrshop and usualy will tell when there is a bigger discount.

They usually have the same prices as everyone else but then applying either the code FORUM or GROUP at checkout gives and extra discount (worth checking both but usually GROUP is more). I buy stuff from them more than any other seller for that reason alone.

I've bought an upgrade from JRR before. Worked seemlessly. I'd be kinda of patient right now though, as they seem to only have a "Reason 12 upgrade" .. no idea if there's any difference, but I'd hate to buy an upgrade for a version I already have! :P

I've got R+ until Jan 2025.

If I don't continue with R+ (likely) I've got no real reason to upgrade atm.

R+/R13 has 6 months to change my mind.

I'm on R+ so I suppose the answer is yes.
I like the new devices, edit window and browser (much easier to find sounds/patches although there is a required workflow shift). However, if I was a perpetual licence owner I would be holding off as for me the (mostly cosmetic) changes do not justify the £199 upgrade cost. If they'd have added just one of the highly requested "features" then that would be the deal breaker;
  • VST MIDI (I know this might be a Player killer but they did add VST Instrument and Effect support which could be seen as an RE killer
  • Group/hide Sequencer tracks
  • Mimic slices by bar/beat/etc.
  • loops/samples auto-tempo detection/audition/stretch for non-rex samples/loops
  • Improvements to Blocks so you can build them without leaving the main sequencer
etc.

Since I became a dad my motorcycle is catching cobwebs in the garage, my karate gi is hanging in I don't even remember which closet, and the last stamp on my passport is from 2019.

Music is the one thing I don't want to give up, and I use Reason to make my music. € 199 is not a bargain price but it is nothing compared to the hours and hours of music making ahead of me.

I’ll likely upgrade eventually for the new devices and browser, maybe after a patch release or two. I still need to run Reason 12, so the bug preventing that is a dealbreaker for me.

I’m also not a fan of the split sequencer, the various limitations it imposes on the edit area, and the interaction between the two views. For my purposes, it’s entirely a downgrade. If others love it, that's equally valid. I’ll spare everyone a longer rant, but I'm glad RRP exists.

Don't want:
- Split sequencer
- Piano roll sidebar
- Big pop-up browser window

Don't need:
- Polytone
- Sidechain tool
- Gain tool
- Browser Tags (I make techno not scores)

Useful:
- Ripley
- Stereo Tool

Simple needs:
- Freeze tracks
- Hide tracks
- Better FX automation hierarchy in sequencer
- Hotkey for calling up VST window without showing rack

I dream of:
- Overhauled mixer (EQ/Comp)
- Overhauled audio engine

Everything points to a big NO for me....yet I'm not holding my breath for it.
After all, my love for Reason has always been illogical

I have to pass on this one. The priceing is to high for What it is. Everything can change, even me. Time will tell. For now it’s a hard no.
