I need to get into this and see if my X-Touch Compact will work. New year resolutions. Don't get drunk everyday and make more music.

Another Instruments appendage:
I've been thinking about how to map synths so it's clear and someone uses it. And I managed to divide it mostly into sections and hide it under the top Rotary Button. It's mostly that 1st-3rd are Oscillators ( I used one Rotary Button somewhere, but press it multiple times for the next Osc )After the Osc are Filters, then LFOs and then Effects. On Rotary B. 7 is the mix section (polyphony, Pitch Band settings etc. And Newly I have always connected on Rotary button 8 Soft mod = There you will find just filters or a few more mappings, but without complexity, for those who want to use only filters. If you would like to map something else there, I can even put instructions here on how to do it and map your own keys in this mod.
I have to say that I was often betrayed by some instruments, especially drum machines, where there is a mapping from the manufacturer, but you can't switch to individual subsections and thus I would be mapping things that you can't see and can be unlocked with the mouse, so there is no point in mapping them. So I only map things that can be toggled and I can see that I'm moving them. For U-Jam Eden etc., I also used Button 1-8 as switches when mapping, where in Rot. Button 1 you toggle like on the mix Mute and Solo also on the bottom row keys where normally the Play, Stop etc. keys are. If anything isn't clear, post and I'll go on, I still have about 11 synths I want to map...

You can write here which device you would like to map together with X-touch mini and I will map it. I can download the trial device and map it.

Hi. I've put together a new mapping for the X-Touch (non-mini) so cross posting here as I think it may be of interest to some people in this thread.

So I added a few more tools and the list is final. The list is part of the Zip file. So download and if something doesn't work, let me know. I'm using my mapping now and unfortunately I'm finding that the bugs are there . I map correctly, but when I create another map, I accidentally damage the previous map and there's a problem... I guess I'll try mapping the EQ above and then look forward to your requests....Have a nice day.

Great job. I had a BEHRINGER BCR2000 from Behringer, so I'm a fan of these larger controllers as well. And the new X-touch has even more possibilities with the displays. But the mini was a challenge for me, cramming so many functions in there seemed impossible and cluttered many times. But in the end, I'm happy.

It's an incredible amount of work. In parallel to the mixer maps I've also been working on mapping instruments and effects to the X-Touch. After a while I started to realise why so many of the default manufacturer maps are so bad or so basic – there's no way they are going to put in that amount of effort just so they can claim compatibility with another DAW. Aside from Nektar who have always done a great job with their Remote support, I think the best maps can only come from Reason enthusiasts who actually use the software.arpegiator1 wrote: ↑04 Feb 2024Great job. does anybody know, if I could use two x-touch mini at the same time in Reason with different mappings ? Maybe it gives problems because its the same device ?

Yes, here Arpeg 06 Dec 2023 in this thread above says he has two Minis and each maps separately. So he actually writes that he is connected to Redrum and uses two Minis per Redrum and each maps different steps. But is it possible to map two devices at the same time? I think it can, but one has to be tied to one of the devices, like a mix, and the other Mini responds to the pointer.

Ah, thanks. I would like to use one for the combinator for the respective track that I am currently on, i.e. in master keyboard following mode. I would like to assign the second device directly to a Thor. Then it should work. I'll probably order a second one then.arpegiator1 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2024Yes, here Arpeg 06 Dec 2023 in this thread above says he has two Minis and each maps separately. Let me know if you can connect the two. Mini is great, nothing big or complicated. I share what you would like to map or improve in mapping. I'll try to fix it.

Yeah, for what you want, tanni, it is all good with 2 Mini's. In Reason DAW : Edit/Preferences/Midi will automatically show :
Behringer X-Touch Mini
Behringer X-Touch Mini 2
Remember to label the X-Touch Mini devices the same or 1 and 2 either with a tab/sticker on the usb cable or on the device itself.
2 Mini's on one redrum with multiple operations. One Mini can control the mixer side of things like Vol, solos etc and the other mini can control the sequencer of redrum like input steps from the mini device on the top layer of buttons while the bottom is showing the lights flicker through sequencer steps.
One mini will show the 8 steps for 8 buttons but 2 mini's will show the next 8 steps, so a full 16 sequencer steps to use
thanks to arpegiator1

Do the codec and map names also have to be adjusted? I'll probably need the lua codec and the corresponding map twice to determine the correct assignments to the respective X-touch mini?

No, 2 Mini's are recognised as two separate devices hence Mini and Mini 2 appearing in the MIDI section via preferences.
When 2 Mini's are present they will most likely show the same controls for redrum (for instance) when you start up Reason. Just click knob1 button (on top) or any knob from 1 to 8 on Mini or Mini 2 for different assignments.
