looks like no one has mentioned Gunship?!:

Absolutely top-notch synthwave - a height I’m striving to attain. Dark All Day is a fabulous album full of great tracks.

Also this album has really caught my ear, sample track:

Software: Reason 12 + Objekt, Vintage Vault 4, V-Collection 9 + Pigments, Vintage Verb + Supermassive
Hardware: M1 Mac mini + dual monitors, Launchkey 61, Scarlett 18i20, Rokit 6 monitors, AT4040 mic, DT-990 Pro phones

hello,

my step dad is trying to write his story
he has been sober for 56 years
listens to a lot of people's stuff
is grateful to be 6 feet above ground

he spent time as a radio guy in the army
during ww2 in japan
he rode motorcycles

so i thought this song would be appropriate

i am collecting different versions of said song

my step dad says his 'theme song' would be 'amazing grace'

that is another beautiful song

cheers,

j

hello,

@bxbrkrz:
the helene vogelsingser music is great
i got bored with watching the video
but enjoyed the music very much

read the 'description' on the video
and was deeply impressed at what she is trying to do

'a very large audience that can't be seen, but it can be felt'
that resonates

i am bumping 'steve miller band' greatest hits

my doctor friend in ABQ, NM is thinking about quitting her job
but she needs to keep working until feb 28
so her 'stocks' get vested
and she can 'take the money and run'

she just bought a plane ticket to 'kona' (hawaii)

cheers and eat well,

hello,

it took me a while to figure out what the message of the song is
i'm a goodgood literacy teacher
not so goodgood at understanding metaphor, etc.

comment from theyoutube:
I love the song, but I keep going back and forth whether it's about the centrality of creative expression and music in human existence, or a low key plea for better intellectual property enforcement.

Staggeringly beautiful
is what one of the comments said
i agree

here is the original audio track

here is father john misty covering said song:

one more for goodgood measure (different vibe):

here is Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings:

the guitar sounds in each track are wonderful
i remember being in kenai, alaska
and the people around the campfire at 2am
high as @$!!#%$##
just strumming on an acoustic guitar
sophie sang neil young's 'helpless'
with japphy on the guitar
and gus glass climbing a skinny aspen tree
until it bent over without breaking

a great way to start to the new year
cheers and eat well

I love Steve Miller Band productions, SO much compression on vocals - listen to the breaths on Jetliner and use it as an example when someone says “the breaths are too loud on my vocal, no one will like the song”. ;)

hello,

i was at target last night
walking around with a squeaky cart
looking for eggs and celery
this song was playing on the 'store tape songs' tape

i recognized the song in little pieces
i asked one of the employees to 'shazam' the song
bingo
citizen cope 'let the drummer kick'

it's been on repeat ever since
it's 6am in brooklyn, now

i copy/pasted said song into all 8 movies folders

it's in the movie 'coach carter'

it almost seems to be the 1 song that can be in all 8 movies

and this hydro dipping guitars is getting out of hand

cheers and eat well,

j

I have been listening to a wide variety of music. Recently, I have been particularly drawn to classical music and the works of Chopin and Beethoven. I also enjoy exploring different styles of jazz, such as the music of Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk. Additionally, I am always on the lookout for new and exciting contemporary composers to discover.

yeah, it really is a lovely track, I have a real soft spot for Time the Revelator, even though that kind of thing's not normally my cup of tea. I don't love every song, but songs I do love, I really really love.

So, in my house I live with a group of queer people who are all in their early 20s. Being 50 and straight makes a pretty hilarious dynamic. Last week I was talking to one of them about how lesbians and divorced hipster dads essentially have the same taste in music but different generations. Eg

flatmate: Sophie!
me: Autechre!

flatmate: [some lofi acoustic guy I can't remember]
me: fucking NICK DRAKE FFS

and talking about slightly shameful angsty 14 year old listening
flatmate: My Chemical Romance!
me: The Cure!

annnnd talking about weepy alt country

flatmate: Phoebe Bridgers!
me: Gillian Welch!

and here we are.

You know, there's a particular kind of guy - you've met him - who is super annoying and patronising about anything electronica. "It's not real music'", 'You just press a button and the music comes out", "I've watched the Get Back documentary fifteen times", blah blah blah. In other words essentially a wanker. These guys' records collections are always full with multiple copies of Revolver, Pet Sounds boxsets and so on. The hipster version - there's a lot of them in my neighbourhood - have substituted Nick Cave and Wilco for the Beatles and the Beach Boys but it's the same thing. (Or so they say, in private they actually only listen to Queen). I dunno, I'm a bit over sensitive maybe but it really gets on my tits. They ALL like Gillian Welch's records but are very careful to tell you it's because of Dave Rawlins' guitar player, and - while he really is top - ignore her lyrical genius and melancholy. Because, patriarchy. For ages I've been planning to do an ep of covers songs these aging dudebros like but in the most cheese ass house styles possible, just as a massive middle finger to them, and Everything Is Free now is top of the list. /rant over.

Been listening to that Burning Spear album posted above, gosh it's really great.

Anyway, if you wanna hear some really genuinely sad making girl singing loveliness, here's two of my favourites.

Soko - Keaton's song:

Grouper - Clearing:

One time I saw Grouper play a show in a carport next to my friends' record shop to about 15 people. One of the best things I've ever seen, it was exquisite.

i found some decent acid techno music from Ballarak. here are some tracks.

i know some people here on RTF like acid techno. perhaps you will like this music, too.

here we go:

ps: i accidentally found this Ballarak's music on YouTube Music platform. lately i am exploring a lot for new unheard electronic music via this platform. it is somehow better than ordinary YouTube platform.
