I use these for my shimmer reverb needs.

This is delay, but it has a function that puts some of the delays an octave higher, which makes it kind of shimmery. It's good when you don't want to deal with the smeariness from a reverb, but still make things a bit sparkly.

Shimmer Reverb RE (like Strymon Nightsky or Big Sky)

I've been getting some very nice results with The Animus Shimmerverb. Might be worth having a look at.

I really like the Skrock one, and the only other one that might appeal to me in RE format would be the Kuassa one, but I don’t know how that sounds. I have Animus and Fritz and almost never use either, because as you suggest, the UIs are very unintuitive.
I haven’t used a Strymon IRL, but from what I’ve seen in videos and sound examples, I don’t think there are any REs that hold up to that level of sound quality. I don’t even like one of the VSTs I bought for this specific purpose—JST Sky Box. so far the best sounding shimmerverb I’ve used is in my Neural DSP Archetype Cory Wong plugin. obviously not a great option unless you’re in the market for a guitar amp sim, and open to VSTs.

First and foremost: Happy New Year! How about these two devices?

b) https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... n/neutron/
BTW, ‘Neutron‘ is currently on sale. You might need a Combinator containing two instances of ‘Neutron’ in order to make them work as a shimmer reverb. If I’m not mistaken then forum user Selig has built and shared such a Combinator a while ago.
Another way of getting a proper shimmer reverb effect is by utilizing ‘Polar’, for instance. A corresponding short tutorial can be found here:
and here as well:
Hope this meets your needs.

I used the shimmer reverb from Processed Pianos and that works just fine for my needs. And of course since it’s RS it’s non-existent on the cpu.

If a VST does what you want then swallow your pride, get it and hide it behind a combinator so it looks like an RE.Eddi-16 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022Thanks for all. Mhh, to be honest, I really do not like most of the UI visual style of the suggested Rack Extensions. For me, its all way to overloaded and overdesigned in my personal opinion. Except the SMFX Reverb, but it looks like it has not really a dedicated shimmer function. Nothing of the suggested ones is quiet similar to the Blue Sky or Nightsky or even the Valhalla Shimmer VST

Press the P-MOD (pitch mod) button. That's where the shimmer is on the SMFX Reverb.
But maybe you're after more controls.
As I said I've used Kuassas reverb (Efektor RV3604 Reverb) quite a bit and mainly for its shimmer option.
I don't know if even it interests you at all but here's a song I wrote where most sounds are absolutely drenched in that shimmer reverb. I always think it's easier to actually show how something sounds rather than just talk about it.

I don't think this one was mentioned: LoveOne Photon - https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... -splitter/
There's another RE coming out soon, currently in beta. Should hit the shop soon.... that's all I can say.. but it's definitely worth waiting so you can compare all your options.

the SMFX one sounds great, and is plenty flexible, using the brick wall filter or whatever it's called. has a button on the back that I think feeds back a second time for a 2-octave shift, as I recall.

I have Animus and Fritz and while Animus has the most options for shimmery type stuff I personally find that SMFX Reverb has such a great warm and beautiful sounding shimmer - just my personal opinion. Give it a trial and check it out.

These are both my "go to" shimmer verbs these days, used them both fairly extensively for a recent project.marcuswitt wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022First and foremost: Happy New Year! How about these two devices?

BTW, here is the link to my combinator for Neutron, which is still possibly my favorite way to shimmer:
