Hi all! :)

on my hard drive Hard drive c is losing storage room for now reason.

I reinstalled over the time windows like 20 times. Is it possible I damaged the memory or so?
Or did I make a mistake when I used CCleaner and deleted almost everything to have more space.
(Like windows store, cortana, etc.)

Yesterday evening, I run Reason, and suddenly 6 Gig were gone on C:

Has anyone else every had the same problem?

Thanks! Chris

Possibly you have a large pagefile set. How much ram does your PC have? What is your pagefile set to?

Does this only happen with Reason? Are you opening projects with a lot of audio files in it?

My first thought is pagefile, but you can also download a free program called "Tree Size" and you can sort your folders by size, then try to locate where that data is ending up. There is probably a better way of doing it, but that's what I would check.

No, it happens whenever I open something. From yesterday till today its 10 Gig. Yesterday after Reason it dropped 5 Gig.
I installed Windows 11 like 5 days ago, and deleted almost everything not needed via ccleaner.
No Im worried I damaged somethin serious.

my laptop data
Gerätename pantaluunmusic
Prozessor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz 1.80 GHz
Installierter RAM 12,0 GB (11,9 GB verwendbar)
Geräte-ID 454177E7-55F9-44A3-B790-6B7090862D65
Produkt-ID 00325-96183-10466-AAOEM
Systemtyp 64-Bit-Betriebssystem, x64-basierter Prozessor

its really weird.

You should be able to find out where the data is located with Tree Size. You will see the folder keep getting bigger, and you can hone in on it. I hope someone comes along with a better option.

Hope this helps

I honestly don't think your computer is damaged. So don't be too concerned just yet. This happened to me before, and I can do my best to assist you!

What is really weird...
It is like the storage just dissapears... after I clean the temp, etc. after a day, it still stays the same.

hello,

i agree with aeox: get 'tree size' program and also get 'space sniffer' program
i have used both these programs along with cc cleaner for 10 years...never had a problem with any of them
also, i am on windows 7

i turned my pagefile off
it's been off for 10 years on all of my computers

get both programs
run them at the same time (keep them open, so you can compare)
and do some detective work to see where your disk space is going
it could take like an hour or so, go slow and don't start deleting stuff until you fully know what it is

again, i agree with aeox

how large is the hard drive / ssd that you are losing space from

christmas is around the corner
perhaps you can ask for a larger hard drive
(especially if you're good at installing operating systems (which it sounds like your are))

also, look into getting additional hard drives

it would help a lot if you posted your computer specs for others to help you out

if you have 'back ups' running that will eat up a lot of space, too
(i forget what the correct windows term is (my are turned off))
it holds many subsequent dates including the most recent
i deleted those and re claimed like 10 gigs of hard drive space

don't do anything risky unless you know what you're doing (disclaimer)

i save all my personal data / content on separate hard drives
so in case anything bad happens i still have my stuff
i just have to re install os and programs

i'm looking at 'space sniffer' right now on my computer
and every little box is accounted for

the only one i don't like is 'winsoxs'
i have never been able to get that reduced
it's sketchy, cumbersome, risky
and i just leave it alone
it has grown in size over time

with either program 'tree size' or 'space sniffer'
it really is interesting to spend some time looking at all the different information on a hard drive

hope you sort it out and eat well,

j

hello,

another thought is to use the 'task manager' to see 'when' shit starts to happen
also, at the bottom of 'task manager' is 'resource monitor' which is a lot more in depth
and then you can also download 'process explorer' which is a program that gives you a lot of monitoring capabilities

again, i would just watch for a while
and have as many of these monitoring screens open
and then start Reason and see what everything else does

cheers,

My guess is: Reason scratch folder (have a look in the Reason preferences and possibly locate it somewhere else.).

I just deleted 266 Files in the USER folder, APP data, Local. Propellerhead software
Now I am back to 79 GIG

But it did use to be that way? Why now? Because of Windows 11?
Or because I started using Audio files lately?

Can I change that?
Or should I install it onto Harddrive D:.
I alway thought installing programms on C: is better
(I alway put songs and samples on D:, presets are on Documents C:)

But thanks for the help so far! It worked

Reason preferences says scratch disc folder is at "default"

Any advice to put a folder properly?
