New Year Resolution...
Well, I don't really ever bother with New Year Resolutions. More often thank not if I decide to do something I just do it. But this year I've decided, as from 1.1.2019 I am not going to open Reason without trying to actually finish a project once started. Since getting Record when it was released I've managed successfully to finish maybe three songs. I've got about, I don't know, 300 bits of songs sitting there on my harddrive. I'm not going to back to the unfinished stuff...maybe listen a little for inspiration but that's it. No more sitting jamming with myself or playing with noises over an Octorex backing beat. Now it's serious. We'll see how long it lasts but it's finally time to get productive .

Right on ! My target for the year is 1 track a week [emoji3]out of 52 tracks there should at least be 5 good ones to enjoy at the end of the year!MrFigg wrote:Well, I don't really ever bother with New Year Resolutions. Question - do y’all regularly listen to your own music once finished ? [emoji848]I find myself doing so and it’s quite an interesting learning experience.

Can't produce in the bedroom - people are sleeping there!

I promise myself I will not buy any VSTs or Rack Extensions in 2019, with the only exceptions being:
1. Any new Softube Modular modules.
2. Any new REs from Noise Engineering.
I will allow myself to upgrade Reason to any new version that might be released in 2019.
I will save a ton of money!

Yes, almost to a point where it's the only music I listen to, for better or worse.Desmondblack wrote: ↑26 Dec 2018Question - do y’all regularly listen to your own music once finished ? [emoji848]I find myself doing so and it’s quite an interesting learning experience.

No new resolution. I'll keep it at 24 bit 44 kHz...
My new year's resolution is taking off my tinfoil hat about Reason having a sound. I can't believe I ever had these beliefs. It's a long story really, but when I got Reason 2.0 and started making music with it, I had zero sound-engine concerns. I just made music and had fun. Then propably I started to demand Reason being more, without looking into a mirror and starting to work harder. The good news is that it's good news, that it's up to my input, how good music I can make.

My resolution is to release my 4th solo album (which has been finished for 2 months, stuck on artwork). And to finish 2 collaborative projects. Friends + Music = being alive

I love going back to old work and getting new ideas.
Yea it's usually finished or on it's way to being finished when I'm at the point of listening to it rendered outside of Reason. I rarely go back to old work, but I have before.FlowerSoldier wrote: ↑27 Dec 2018Is anything ever "finished"?

I said the same thing last year and wasn't any more productive this year. Best of luck to you. The key is to finish songs and don't fret over if they're a masterpiece or not. The more songs you complete the more experience gained. Easier said then done, I know.MrFigg wrote: ↑25 Dec 2018Well, I don't really ever bother with New Year Resolutions.
