Now I'm happy I missed the 2.0 sale
latest V12 on MacOS Ventura
It is actually still on sale and the update is free. So you just missed eXpanse time at all.

eXpanse is a great synth. Didnt tried Europa till now. Yesterday i was working on a lil patch in eXpanse, and it was quite easy to give the patch a lil bit of noise and inter-osc fm, even some shaping based on some short envelopes to give the patch more presence and better cut through. Adding some basic modulation on the oscillator for the phase and some drift, and i was done. The amplifier, compressor, ultra short delay and reverb and bang! 4 oscillators, each with editable phase randomization, drift, FM, shapers and and and...great stuff. Only a few more filters and bigger mod matrix would be nice, but hey, i can add them after it. Doing some slight modulation on the back is also done quickly. I really like eXpanse.
Is it worth 59? Paying only 59 for such a power beast is a steal.
Compared to Europa? I dont know. But i am sure, eXpanse will be developed further.

This update, even the last update has turned it into the most powerful Re synth well done blamsoft, my only thing I’d change on it is one thing. Make it so the FM/RM can be done like in Thor through the mod matrix, I don’t mind having to use a modifier a lot on each oscillator but that’d be handy :p I really don’t see how this could get any better great work blamsoft!

That's why I said, happy that I missed the 2.0 sale for 79
And I didn't miss at all, because I've been busy with all the other synths ... I'm just sitting in front of reason a couple of hours per month

More powerful than ReSpire you think?scratchnsnifff wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017This update, even the last update has turned it into the most powerful Re synth well done blamsoft, my only thing I’d change on it is one thing. Easily, I don’t like to play the game of one is better than the other. How ever looking at both devices in terms of user friendly interface, features, and presets. Respire only has the preset catagory won. Other than that both have similar features except expanse has user wavetables, drawable wavetables, a “spectral filter/EQ” for each oscillator FM modifier or cross oscillator FM/RM for 60 dollars at this time it’s a no brainer!miscend wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017More powerful than ReSpire you think?scratchnsnifff wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017This update, even the last update has turned it into the most powerful Re synth well done blamsoft, my only thing I’d change on it is one thing. Well you did start the game by saying it was the most powerful synth RE. That’s a very definitive statement which I thought was worth exploring further.scratchnsnifff wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017Easily, I don’t like to play the game of one is better than the other. I always thought they were pretty evenly matched in terms of general specs (filters, envelopes, fx, modulation etc). They both have 4 oscs, both have two filters with several filter types, both have FM, Expanse has 3 LFOS Spire has 4, Expanse has 5 envelopes Spire has 4, they both have 2 sequencers but Spire also has an arp, they both have 6 effects, Expanse has 6 modulation slots Spire has 15. They only really diverge in emphasis because Expanse is a specialised Wavetable synth and Spire is a traditional VA inspired by the Virus. So Spire lacks RM and the more in depth wavetable synthesis stuff. But there is also other things that Expanse lacks. They are quite different but have similar horse power.
Wow. Can't wait to check this out when I get home.Loque wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017eXpanse 3.0 comes with some great new Features like

The one thing that gets me with respire is the dragging of filter selection and modulation selection, expanse even had that issue at one point. If respire didn’t have everything hidden it would be a different story, I can’t even stand working with the stepper in respire :/ in time when/if it gets all ironed out I will use it more often, I love the vst. Like I said I may be a bit bias because it’s grown on me more so than even the more popular vsts. That’s pretty powerful in itself being a humble rack extensionmiscend wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017Well you did start the game by saying it was the most powerful synth RE. Here is a little example for everyone, who doesnt know how eXpanse can sound. Please note, its just 1 quick example sound with some random stuff modulated and serisouly is not limited to such kinds of sounds.
Ahhh...i got quickly made a lil guitar. Why a guitar? Because its so freakin easy. The amp which i used is the AXP Flextron. And please excuse my sucky keyboard playing

eXpanse 3 has Karplus-Strong though. Not saying it's unique (Resonans is based on it and Europa has it too) but it's a very nice new shiny tool in an already bulging toolbox.miscend wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017I always thought they were pretty evenly matched in terms of general specs (filters, envelopes, fx, modulation etc). They are pretty even for the most part, I also think expanse wins in the cv catagory and that’s against 90% of Res expanse has cv for every common parameter (position filters and LFO etc) plus cv in and out (free cv in/out) so for a user like myself this is a selling point. It’s a nice addition. To my many modularish collection of rack extensions:)WongoTheSane wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017eXpanse 3 has Karplus-Strong though. OK removing all the bias I possibly can considering I alpha & beta tested expanse 1.0 - 3.0 and did all the Overview videos I have this to say:
It is the most commonly used synth in any of my work besides subtractor. It's a workhorse that can do simple and very complex stuff with ought drawing out charts just to get the sound right. This is even considering I own Komplete 11 standard and a myriad of other Re and VST synths. I'm excited for the R10 update but Europa will never replace what I do inside expanse based on features and usability. Granted Europa is also a blast, it's just different. It's a flavor thing and like Guy Fiara, I'm all up and down the streets of flavor town

It would be cool if trials could be reset. I tried version 1 last year, but now we are 2 versions further and I'd like to try the wavetable-import and new additions ....

Really looking forward to digging into the update tonight.
This is probably a bad question to ask but the Blamsoft sales have me on edge to let them take my money. Would it be redundant to buy Zero? I unfortunately trialed Zero and Expanse at the same time and spent most of my time with Expanse. The time I did spend using Zero I was very impressed with the sound quality. Programming seemed very foreign but that's not a concern. Anyone with both care to throw their two cents in?

It's tempting at the price. Must admit I have not tried Expanse yet as initially I wasn't particularly interested in it. Reason 10 out very soon. Expanse is only sale until November 1st so I think I'll wait for 10, see what that has to offer then check out Expanse.

Totally worth 60! Pretty sure the intro price wasn’t even that low and by the looks of it all of blamsofts REs are on saleFaastwalker wrote: ↑16 Oct 2017It's tempting at the price. Go for Expanse too! I’ve been quite a long time without it - even I’ve got it at 79, the sale before, I don’t even think I had no luck with calendar! I honestly think nobody should miss it at this current price ! And you can believe me, long time ago I tried it and couldn’t see the point of it (at version one) . Now sometimes I think : « it wasn’t me. It is so incredible I missed the point of it!? » Believe me. If you’re into sound tweaking don’t miss it! Un ami qui vous veut du bien
