2024 remix of a 45-second intro track recorded on 20 August 1990.

The original recording comprised vocals, music box, Tupperware percussion, electric bass, a lot of tape hiss, and the voices of neighbours outside, recorded by dangling the tape recorder out of the bedroom window. It is in mono. It was recorded in one take. On a domestic tape recorder.

The remix uses only elements of the original. Including the tape hiss. It is in stereo. It was made in :reason:12 in September 2024.

This is cool. I think you have more than enough good elements in this to stretch the track out, make it a bit longer and create interesting transitions between the elements.

Thanks for listening and commenting, people. The original track was 45 seconds, hence keeping this Reason rework as close as I could to that duration.

Going through old mono tape recordings made at home in the early ’90s is quite a good way of finding unusual samples. In many cases even if the sound being recorded isn't all that unusual – like the voice of the little girl playing outside at 0:04 here – the domestic recorder makes it odder.

I need a longer version of this. I love the "tupperware percussion" on this track more than any other song.. XD

Merci beaucoup. "Tupperware percussion" here means us, as 17-year-olds in 1990, using plastic 1970s Tupperware boxes as toms, and, having no proper drumsticks here, instead using Rotring Fineliner pens to hit the boxes with.

It's Tupperware in this style:
