Towards the end Timbaland spoke about his inspirations and what keeps him going.

He spoke about perseverance and the importance of committing to bringing out your own "bounce" and not ever trying to imitate anyone else.

It hit home for me.

I feel like I learned more from the last 20 minutes than the whole programme.

I've always felt like I had to change my flavor, when truth be told, I loved my sound.

It's not like I hadn't heard this on the PUF. But I used to ignore it, thinking I needed to sound like others.

Sure, I'd always inject my sound into songs, but I was taking a lot of the fun out of the process.

I didn't get into this for anything but my own enjoyment. But somehow along the line I managed to convince myself that my intuition and style was somehow wrong.

Maybe it's because a lot of what he said about his inspiration hit home to me.

When I listen to my older tracks in Reason, I'd often be diving into strange new territory that didn't fit any relevant genres. But it was a place I was drawn to dwell in.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy integrating with the trends and satisfying current ideals. But I spend much less time vibing with my true essence unless I'm playing on the piano where I can easily get lost in it.

Well ... Just thought I'd share

I've learned a lot from Timbaland and Acidjazzed Evening.

Yes, that was a proper drama that hopefully ended financially well for Janne. It also inspired the title for Demovibes 7.

The copyright dispute was eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.

Sampling isn't imitation.

Used to be a fan back in the 90's, but he literally copied* their entire track and tried to pass it off as his own work. This ain't Kanye and Daft Punk.

Then when he got called out on it, his response was, and I quote: "I don't know them from a can of paint". Yeah, fuck Timbo.

*(FWIW I don't think he sampled it in the sense of using a sampler: he has a SID station himself. I am pretty sure he used it to either play the file or to recreate it, because there are some small differences in timbre from the original track)
