Lovely stuff. Getting very happy 1993/1994 vibes from it. Perfect choice of synths and pads. Love the chunky bass lurking in the middle. The vocal works beautifully and is produced really well. Thats a great moment at 2.53 when the chords kick in. It all left me wanting to hear a full 8 minute extended version. 👍🏻🙂

Oh thank you! I haven't thought about this track in a while, kind of you to comment! I actually did another version as well. I have so many tracks in my folders right now. Easily an album.

Did that one go in a different direction? Can we hear it?

Arcade rave. That’s what comes to mind. Sweet synth timbres. Perfect mix and you caught the emotion of it. Feel-good tune.

Lovely mix. Everything shines here. Vocal sounds cool too, has a bit of a Petshop Boys feel to it. Did you do them yourself?

Yeah, kinda a song that has that "empty of evilness" sound and style. Some synths had a very fresh character - nice!

Can you share a little more about the inspiration behind the song “Down In Flames”? I’m curious if you drew inspiration from personal experiences or some imaginary imagery. When artists mix synths with real emotion, they often create something unique!

Sure. So I was in a constant state of a mix between bad luck and self-sabotage for a while - highs & lows.. as in drugs and depression. And nothing really going for me. I wrote a lot of songs with similar themes of despair. But being so in love with pop and catchy music, it came out sounding maybe upbeat in a way. I think the energy makes it fun. I’ve written so many songs that were just plain depressing and I prefer the fun energy with honest lyrics and emotions, even when the words aren’t as happy as the music.
Like I said before, I was inspired by David Bowie Space Oddity, Elton John Rocket Man, and the movie Top Gun. I wanted a theme of being a pilot flying out of control and crashing down to symbolize my life falling apart. And the music therapy role kind of lets my imagination cheer me up because I’m proud to write songs like these that give me purpose and other people enjoy.
I like guitars and synths and a cool beat and I’m very eclectic. I love music from every era and genre and although rock and electronic are my favorites, I am inspired by everything and try not to be any specific genre.
Check out my new song Down In Flames.
