I don't understand why they didn't release actual release notes... It's confusing knowing what is true and what is not.
Anyway, I found that Rex format was limited because many sounds simply don't work well with it, and it introduces audible artifacts even at the original tempo, but with drums and percussion, it usually works well.
I would love to see batching features added to implement adding parameters to batch of files.

Lets hope we see a whole new wave of rex refills.

I’ve never used it. Does it do things that the slice editing in Reason doesn’t do?
Sure, load a loop and set the markers and loop length. It tells you the bpm, you can adjust slice sensitivity, apply stretch which is smoothing out the cuts by a slight ping-pong etc.

ReCycle also got a last minute mention on this week's Sonic State podcast courtesy of Gav Williams.
Watched it, funny they called the company 'propellerheads'

Come to think of it, this would've been a fun April Fools joke to change their name again, if ReCycle was released on April 1 lol

Funny if recycle was released mars 1 and work for 30 days and then a popup says "April fools now you have to buy it!" :D :D

Nice to see RS give some attention to some of their other products, perhaps they'll revisit their mobile apps as well.

I'm working on a sample that's in 3/4 time to make it work in a 4/4 beat. Any tips on how to do this with ReCycle? My issue is trying to count the beats when loading the 3/4 sample while thinking in 4/4.

I personally would leave it as 3/4, import it into Dr. Octo Rex, copy loop to track, and then edit the pattern in the Sequencer to be 4/4.

Crazy. All of ya'all didn't even see or realize that this came out on Windows ARM as well. Lmao... Come on, gang - THIS IS HUGE!!!!
And maybe, maybe you know how to import *.akp files from recycle to an akai force? And how to use it after import and how to convert to a drumfile?

Maybe, may,be you how to, would be nice…….

The biggest secret of the recycle/reason workflow is that you can use recycle to save a version with more slices and then get the GROOVE MAP from that and even though you are using a different rex save with the sensitivity lower, all the other stuff you use the ReGroove mixer on with the groove from the higher sensitivity is going to tighten up more.

I was just looking at my old studio folder and I see a whole bunch of rex files I created back in July 2001. (And onwards!) I was saving off different version, changing the loop points, layering the same thing over itself but sliced different...

They should have released ReCycle for free at Reason 10. It really, really is the best workflow for slicing samples. I don't even pronounce the Octo, it'll always be Dr. Rex to me.

I noticed in the tutorial Ryan suggests raising the sensitivity slider up and locking slices, then moving the slider back down. Correct me if I am wrong, but you can just use the pencil tool to draw additional slice markers, then the lock tool to make them permanent slices.

Seems an easier way to do it if you only need a few more slices.

Good to see they have used players to playback Dr Octorex slices, then Pattern Mutator. It's something I have mentioned on here that I really like in Reason!

I was going to install it from my old license but now it's free, totally amazing!!! I'm all over this!
And it is a newer version! I bought the older version a few years ago.
But they did take Recycle out of the shop. Not sure why, usually free stuff shows up there too.

If I have time (moving next month and have to get ready), I'll try the challenge just for fun.

Nice gift. Thanks Props! Drag and drop is a nice feature.

It would be nice to know what else was updated. Anybody know?

Has anyone installed it yet? It's asking for a license number here... I put in my old 2.2 license but how is it supposed to work if it is free?
No license. Install it, use it.

And remember the big, big trick is this:

Copy the loop midi to track. Delete everything but the snares. Now you can use Alter on them and they'll keep their timing and mix up. You can create variation in your rex files really well with this.

I'm trying hard to understand this... can you explain it to me like I'm a (insert politician name here) voter please?

Android Package Kits are on Windows ARM? Had no idea. I don't have a Windows ARM computer so, I'm afraid I can't speak to that. That said, Akai Force (nor MPC in standalone) doesn't support the REX/REX2 format, as there's no option for playing REX/REX2 files in a Linux environment, only Mac/PC. That said, the desktop MPC Software does support REX file import, so if you've got that - I guess you could import them there, and then export them onto your Force via a removable drive?

That said, you've got an Akai Force, which basically can make its own "rex" files via a Drum Program. Take any sample, open it in the Sample Editor, slice it up to taste, and - this is the important part - add sample tails to each slice. Bam - your own Force "rex" files (well, minus the MIDI data, but that's the whole point of having it in a Drum Program so you can play your own patterns).  You can speed it up and slow it down using your tempo setting. And yeah, there's a limit to how effectively you can change it without it sounding "choppy" (just like it behaves in an actual REX file).

No, I meant the option in Recyccle that says export to akai akp file………

It should be a sort of S6000 type of file with all kinds of info in it.

There is nothing in the manual about it, the force let’s me import an akp file but nothing with it.

Sorry, beats me. I'm just looking forward to the new Force OS update.

Actually with it being free and having drag and drop directly into Reason, it feels like we have it in a way :)
Even with decades of computer experience I feel like a total noob here: Clicking & dragging from the "REX" icon does nothing here - I can't comprehend what Ryan is doing. I don't see a file icon and simply nothing happens. I'm on a AppleSilicon Mac here. Do I miss anything I need to do before?

That sounds weird. No, you just click and drag. I've never had an issue and can do that at any stage. Got a screen recording of what you're seeing?

Here is a 720p recording: https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/01bc ... t_19.10.17

But I won't be that helpful probably - you literally see nothing while dragging...
