Is Scaler 3 now usable as a player device?

It is a Plugin boutique made device and they state : (WIN) DAWs supported: Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper, Reason + more.
(MAC) DAW’s Supported: Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper, Reason + more.

I have never used it but I am interested in version 3 so I may D/L a trial later today

Reason still does not support MIDI output from VST(3). But you can use drag and drop to get the generated MIDI from it into the sequencer iirc.

I'm using Scaler 3 within Reason perfectly! It hosts VSTs and AUs internally so Scaler 3 now does everything in Reason just like any other DAW. No MIDI pass through required!

WHAT?! Are you BETA testing? Scaler 3 won't be released until March 25th

Here's some info

Looks pretty good, like a baby DAW within your DAW. Hopefully it hosts the RRP and you can get crazy with arps etc. Really psyched for this upgrade

At the moment I use Scaler 2 just like a player by returning the midi to play any instrument I want in Reason.

I have video's on my channel how to set it up, this one uses instachords.

Sooo is Scaler 3 coming out as an instrument/combinator type device? The video suggests we can load whole instrument and effect devices inside Scaler 3

That's Davide Carbone one of the creators of the software so I would hope he does have access to the full version 3!

Nice to see you here Davide and great to hear that Scaler 3 now works natively in Reason. Thanks for the support and I hope that the community returns the favour and supports the software.

I have had Scaler since version 1 and have watched and very much appreciated how it has grown with your willingness to listen to feedback and be open to ideas from the community. The speed and the amount of continued development is something we Reason users can only dream of.
Every success for the launch, you and the team really deserve it.

Is it possible to use a 3rd party arpeggiator within Scaler 3? I've been watching some vids of how it handles MIDI and it looks really impressive, especially the arpeggiation options - but I'd still love to be able to use my arp of choice

I think so ( it says you can use all vst/au instruments and FX vst/au inside of it)...
I imagine a third party vst/au arp will be also possible, but I'm not 100 percent sure.. a rack arp... again unsure.
No manual yet just videos ( I have only watched about 3 videos so far)... it comes out on the 25th... hopefully with a manual.
I updated from version 2. Waiting now...

SO, but this is only possible if it is used as Standalone App ? Or can I load also Reason VST inside Scaler, if Scaler is already used as a VST inside Reason ???

Oh YES, fine :) It is possiblle to load any VST inside Scaler Instrument. Just checked with the TRIA Version. Now it is a MUST HAVE for me :)

I'd still prefer to use Scaler in Reason rather than Reason in Scaler

But no complaints, this upgrade looks incredible

I am just thinking how long ppl are willing to accept, that Reason still does not support VST MIDI output?

I would like to try such plugins, but without all the workarounds and limitations....

I'd love to see VST MIDI out implemented too, but if they're never going to do it, I'd be interested to hear a rationale from Reason Studios themselves

There's been a lot of speculation among users along the lines of "VST MIDI out will allow third party plugins to compete with players" - which makes perfect sense, but at the end of the day it's still just speculation. I'd like to hear the reason from Reason

However, VST Instruments and effects now compete with Rack Extensions, so why not let VST Midi devies compete with players?
