Thanks Tomusurptomusurp wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024Always love your kick selection as you know. Nice wide clap and super clean mix. Great arrangement so far and nice little break before the next drop. If I had to nitpick I would probably put a synth effect buildup before the different synth to the melody comes in at 1:57. Overall one of your best
Thanks for the listen and feedback TritoneAddiction. There definately are things that have more verb than others and am I right in thinking they did not sound like in one consistent space? Something for me to consider, thank you.TritoneAddiction wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024Great track. Nice atmosphere throughout.
I do feel some sounds/synths has more depth than others. Meaning some leads like the vocals has plenty of reverb while some synth sounds are pretty much completely dry and mono. Not saying every sound has to be drenched in reverb, but the different feels stood out to me like there was a conflict in what tone/space the song was going for.
Yes that’s how I felt. I thought the sounds themselves fit together, but some sounds wasn’t mixed to gel together perfectly. I can’t really say exactly how I would do things. When I mix my own stuff I just tweak away until I think everything feels cohesive and gels together. It’s more intuitive than a calculated process for me.Popey wrote: ↑30 Dec 2024Thanks for the listen and feedback TritoneAddiction. Thank you for listening and the feedback Benedict. I did want to purposely keep this track short but take on board the it just stops comment.Benedict wrote: ↑05 Jan 2025Nice tight - restrained but driving - sound.
I hear what Mr Tone hears. It is great to hear layers in the mix from reverb/echo, a few things do perhaps seem very forward. This may however be part of how the piece feels the way it does overall. So perhaps try what is suggested and then see if others have the same response on the overall drive of the track.
Very nice work overall. Except the track just stops

Thank you for the nice comments. I wouldn't necessarily call myself an incredible producer but I am always learning. This type of comment does help me understand I am on the right path though and is really appreciated.JaceFace wrote: ↑25 Jan 2025Remember when people left comments on the Soundcloud tracks? Seems like no one does that anymore. It was really cool to see everyone's comments as the song played.
Perfect mix. Some of my fellow Reasonistas are incredible producers, such as yourself. This tune is intriguing from start to finish. Of all the awesome sounds, there's something about that small tight clap you panned left. Ear candy.
Thank you selig. I must admit I do kinda see where people are coming from regarding reverb and it's not a particular area I have studied in any depth yet, there is so much to learn with all aspects of creating music, but it's a very enjoyable journey.selig wrote: ↑28 Jan 2025Nice track - not sure I agree about the reverb comments. The kick doesn’t have reverb on most tracks and still ‘gels’. Contrast between the elements creates depth - some things are closer than others, which sounds natural to my ears.
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, just saying I love it like it is - could work either way, but I respect the choices you’ve made, and they work well for my sense of taste, fwiw…
Don’t get me wrong, I love reverb but I have projects that are almost 100% reverb AND projects where I don’t use a single reverb anywhere (using delays instead in some cases). Horses for courses…
Yes, it is “old school” to use one or two reverbs for the entire mix, but it still applies today IMO. It was originally done that way to not only represent the actual space music was often heard in, but also because there were few studios with more than a handful of reverb options total! It’s also easier on the CPU and generally speaking quicker because if you want to make a change to the reverb you only have to do it once.Popey wrote: ↑28 Jan 2025Thank you selig. I often wonder if people use one reverb return channel and feed varying amounts into it to add cohesion/feeling of one space.
I tend to have reverb on individual elements but try to use the same verb with different reverb times etc. I basically just go with what sounds good to me at the moment but could probably improve in this area for sure.
Thanks selig for the info. I think logically that was my thinking that sending to the same or a couple of verb would put things in one space.selig wrote: ↑28 Jan 2025Yes, it is “old school” to use one or two reverbs for the entire mix, but it still applies today IMO. My bigger point was you CAN do that, or you CAN leave it as it is - there is nothing inherently wrong with your current mix at all! The only thing that matters is what YOU think.
And the only way to find out what you think is best is to listen to different options and go with the one that best gets you to your goal (or gets you there quickest).
