Not sure how/if possible on Win but on Mac you can make custom shortcuts, so I made cmd+R to reset device to init, use it all the time now.
I did the same! I feel like this one should be built-in.
Here are the Reason 13 Custom Keyboard Shortcuts I have set up on my Mac. To make your own, just navigate to System Prefs > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts and then hit the + symbol to load Reason and then add the menu title and assign a keyboard shortcut. Be aware that you have to input the menu title exactly as it is in the program dropdown menus or else they won't work.

Also, you'll notice that I have ^K for "Save Algoritm Patch As..." that will work with any other instrument. For example if I swap out the Algoritm synth and replace it with a Europa, it will still work and you can save the Europa patch.

So I finally upgraded and one thing that’s bugging me: when you save a patch on Mac it always sets the folder to “User Library” forgetting where you had been every time!

Definitely different from 12!
Software: Reason 13 + Objekt, Vintage Vault 4, V-Collection 9 + Pigments, Vintage Verb + Supermassive
Hardware: M1 Mac mini + dual monitors, Launchkey 61, Scarlett 18i20, Rokit 6 monitors, AT4040 mic, DT-990 Pro phones

this is the same with Reason 13.1 in windows. When saving a patch, the folder: “User Library” is now always suggested and I have to click 10 times to go to the correct folder where the patch should be saved. In the previous Reason version, Reason always remembered the last storage location for different patches from the respective synths. That was really good. Now I have to click dozens of times every time I save...grrr. :(

I mean I *kinda* get saving everything to the user library, in as much as that if you browse from any instrument, and click there, you'll see the patches for that thing. And also Reason seems to emphasis the idea of the 'sound' over the device or plugin itself. So it's more like, just use whatever sound you need at the time. Rather than thinking "I'm looking for Subtractor patches" or whatever. But I also get why people might want their own structure. Tbh I've only recently gotten into actually saving and curating presets and templates and things so I'm still figuring out a system that works. In Logic I put info in the name like Synth - Bass - Plucky Pulse. In Reason I guess you'd just use tags.

Very thankful for this update. The browser, tagging, favorites, rack + device feature.. wow I don’t use the players. Maybe I should. Merry Christmas everyone.

I am one of those people who have their own structure organization on my hard drives, since the end of the 90s, I started to structure and organize my files on Amiga

You can put some alias of your folder/s in to the folder "User Library" then you can save directly to the right location

I tried that, but it’s not good enough as you still have to navigate from User Library to the actual folder - every time! It’s a real pain and a real slow down. Fortunately I’ve built most of my patch library, so just adding a few Polytone patches isn’t the end of the world. But if I were doing it from scratch with this system I would have been pulling my hair out!

I have a direct alias for every device for which I frequently add patches. So an alias list. And a link to the main folder.

This can then be adapted depending on the project.

So there is not much Navigation.

Finally pulled the trigger on the upgrade. The discount was too good and I hate the tool window so much. The browser improvements look good.
I've definitely warmed to the browser. I would still love it if it had an audio wafeform view like Soundly, where you can highlight a portion of a longer piece of audio and drag just that part in to the timeline, or to a sampler. Any kind of seeking would be good for just previewing as well as some sounds take a while to get going. Also would love a shuffle results button, for finding hidden gems.
+1

Does anyone know if R13 works under Mac OS 10.14 Mojave, the last one available on the 2010 MacPro ? RS told me they don't know and asked to try but if someone has already tried let me know, txs
PS: R12 works perfectly with 10.14

Hi,
really great Release!
One question, is it possible now, that VST Effects receive Midi notes?

Thanks

VST Effects always could for me! You just need to click the little track input tab (top left of the device) to create a sequencer track for it. Getting MIDI <out> of VSTs, however, is still impossible (without a workaround anyway).

I've just upgraded too. With the 13.1 update, and $80 price, I'm happy. And I'll now look forward to each point update, as these are always somewhat substantial (like 13.1).

With every major new version, (12, 13...) we perhaps feel underwhelmed, because we're comparing it to the last point release of the previous version (i.e. 13 vs 12.7). But RS carries the major version a long way with their point updates. I'm all-in at 13.1, and it will be a bonus to see how 13 progresses from here.

Has anyone upgraded from R11 Suite to R13.1?

I am very tempted, but I read somewhere (though I cannot locate it now) that there are issues with multiple screens and floating windows.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I just upgraded from R11 Suite to 13.1 and just discovered I can no longer launch R11 anymore. Not sure if that's intended or I'm missing something. Just wanted to keep it close for a while just in case but at the same time hoping 13 will be just fine for me. So far I didn't run into issues but I don't use multiple monitors.

Edit. I pressed the wrong button. Forgot I had a demo installed. I can still launch Reason 11 Suite.

The three windows can still be detached (some people were a little confused at first, because the UI for this changed). Sadly the browser is not (yet?) detachable as well, so it is confined to the window where it got opened.

That's interesting, because they have 10.15 listed as a requirement on all of these pages:
https://www.reasonstudios.com/get-reason
https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/product/reason-13/
https://help.reasonstudios.com/hc/en-us ... -Reason-13

I suppose if someone told you to try it, maybe they were thinking from an angle of official support and not thinking about the requirement to even run the installer?

Yep, I saw the official requirements, but RS support told me to try anyway...May be if I extract R13 on my other Mac with more recent OS and I transfer the Reason app on my old Mac, all of the sudden it works, who knows, so far it's only the installer that doesn't work

Huh? Do you mean multiple displays? If so, things work absolutely fine, aside from the new browser being locked to 1 display.

Just upgraded and why the hell isn't the browser window floating on it's own? Why is it locked into the limited workspace? I want to slide it to my other monitor out of the way. SERIOUSLY.

I also had things set to dark mode and that new browser looks like ASS in dark mode. (Edit - Why are the icons in the new browser monochromatic? Can I turn that off? It's just terrible visually, everything mushes into everything.)

Also noticed that my existing shortcut for my Studio drive comes up BLANK in the browser (*in tree mode) but I can navigate to it via My PC and see it just fine. My other shortcuts are for folders in that drive and they load just fine. But great that my first minutes with your touted new browser LEAVES ME PANICKED THAT MY ENTIRE DRIVE IS HOSED.

How do I find what patches are new in Reason 13? I seem to have imported a "New in Reason 12" folder, did they release something this time around?
If you ain't hip to the rare Housequake, shut up already.

Damn.
