That's probably what I would have done too. If they don't appeal to the youngest generation they are potentially missing out on a huge new market.
There are probably not a lot of us old geezers left that don't already know about Reason, so why target ads to us?

I think it's likely very smart of them to make stuff folks my age call "lame".
