Which DAW for live performances?

Want to talk about music hardware or software that doesn't include Reason?

Reason's fine for instrument-based performances, but I'm looking for a more DJ-oriented performance software. I'm aware Ableton Live pretty much does what I want but I'd like to see if there's any other options out there.

Essentially I'm hoping for a clip launcher that can do quantised playback of all kinds of performances such as loop playback, midi sequences, one-shot samples, stem mixing and effects.

Is it really just Ableton that can do this? I've heard Bitwig might, but all the videos I've seen only appear to show loop playback in the clip launcher and not much else.

Happy to look into any recommendations, thanks.

Bitwig should also work quite well for this.

RE Mastermind ..EKKS´´ or ..Random Noise ´´ show how it can be work.
I also try it with Rex files but it is a lot of work and i can´t find a good way to build rex files much faster:

Maybe?
Does seem more like DJ mixing software, but I'll take a look.

There are a lot of DAWs with clip launchers (or workarounds) these days, but with Ableton, you have more hardware options. Even if you don't want to invest in a Push 2 or 3, you can find many cheaper options like the Novation Launchpad lineup. Plenty of keyboard controllers with pads that launch Ableton Live clips as well. It's not impossible to integrate hardware with DAWs like Bitwig (search "<controller name> DrivenbyMoss"), but with Ableton it will work out of the box with little fuss.

I may be wrong about the lack of Bitwig hardware integration, I'd love to hear from any Bitwig users on the hardware they use in conjunction with it.

Although it's looking like Live is still the best contender I am still very intrigued by Bitwig. The only thing I need to know if the clip launcher supports MIDI sequences/phrases rather than loops. Maybe when I get some spare time I'll look into a demo to see.

Thanks all for your help.
