Your guess for next RS RE
It’s been 1.5 years since Objekt ‘s been released, so it’s guess time
I bet on a synth based drum machine (child of redrum and kong with updated and new drum engines and sequencer)
Or a multi fx a la Hologram Microcosm or Console

What are you missing?

If I load up Valhalla or Arturia Infinity or Steinberg Reverence I immediately think, wow that sounds great. Each in their own way. I load up RVmk2 and think ffs what can i do to make this sound alright.
Missing is , shimmer , freeze. A native stereo plate that isn't a combinator hack, mod matrix, awesome presets and a bright inviting user interface.
But really, if you ask that every time then you would still be using a DAW from 1999 and saying , look! It does everything, what is missing?

If you have the Processed Pianos RE then you have the RS version of Shimmerverb, along with a few other FX like multi-tap delay, lo-fi and few others.

Yeah maybe a new modern reverb with different reverb types.
Or a new distortion unit. Scream4 is pretty damn old at this point. Not saying it isn’t still useful. But it is old.

RVMK2 is pretty good for a stock reverb. It has an amazing amount of algorithms, which most probably never discovered, like multi tap or spring reverb. And if you have some IR samples, everything is fine. I agree, that we need a MK3, which is requested since years...Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024If I load up Valhalla or Arturia Infinity or Steinberg Reverence I immediately think, wow that sounds great. I didn't get your last argument. Cubase is from the 80s...
Personally I think Reason lacks a good bit/rate reduction device like Decimort. The algorithms in Europa, Scream4 and even in Ripley are okayish, but not great...

A multiband compressor or dynamic EQ.
A transient shaper.
A standalone multi-stage envelope generator.
An upgraded version of DrumSequencer.

I'm going to guess that it's something underwhelming, missing basic features, and will never get any updates.
I’m with you with a new distortion device. I’ve based my guess on what’ve happened the last years :TritoneAddiction wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024Yeah maybe a new modern reverb with different reverb types.

Thor -> Europa as flagship synth
Rv7000-> mk2 as flagship reverb
Chorus, Flanger -> Quartet & Sweeper
Bv512 -> Bv-x
Substractor -> Polytone as VA
Malstroem -> Grain
The Écho -> Repley
So
Synchronous -> multifx unit
Scream4 / Pulverizer -> new distortion unit
Kong / redrum -> new drum designer machine

I would encourage you to Q the expectations of what reverb "should' be and then dig into the amazing things that you can do with stock devices only in Combi etc. While nothing in Reason does that Valhalla thing, there are many many ways to skin cats (metaphorically of course). If you just took Ripley and used RV-7000 in the breakout loop along with the Ripleyverb you can get really exciting stuff.Jackjackdaw wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024If I load up Valhalla or Arturia Infinity or Steinberg Reverence I immediately think, wow that sounds great. Here I compare several different reverbs and the results. Personally I can never use the Valhalla (Fab Filter etc) sound and use really 'clatter' reverbs as they stick better and come out far richer and deeper.

I more and more appreciate tools that don’t require skinning any cats. As much as I like to indulge in a little cat skinning here and there, the quality of pre skinned cats these days is such that I feel that the skinning of ones own cats shouldn’t be necessary.
The Combinator is the Reason way oft delivering pre-skinned and packaged cats so to speak.
Stuff I've made and my BC.

Oh for the love of god yes.A new Dr Rex update is needed
I think they should completely overhaul how slice editing works and move it all to the new midi edit window. So you can see note to note what effects are being used from slice edit, rather than having to dodge between the device display and sequencer.
They could have the slice edit display parameters mirrored in the sequencer. The new midi edit window could adapt when you switch to editing midi for Octorex and you'd have the advantage of it all being in the same place a long with the F8 tools.
I gave up on requesting time stretch and frequency shift (ring mod would be nice to have) on a per slice basis when Octorex came out and all we got was multi slots and a few additional slice edit parameters, two of which I've never used!
