Greetings everyone. Im not new to Reason, been using it since version 1 :o but I am new to this forum.
Im wanting a control surface with motorised faders for the mixer. I see the Behringer BCF in the list but thats quite old now - does the x-touch work OK?
Could anyone recommend one that is supported by Reason.

The X-Touch works, either with Jaexx’s Remote maps or my modified version. There’s more info in the thread:

Obviously I’m a bit biased but I’m happy with it. Maybe it would be good to hear from other people who like this instead. I’ve put together a simple guide to what it does if you want to get an idea of how it is mapped.

Thanks, I read your thread. Did you manage to overcome those transport issues. Can you use the override and learn feature to assign correct function.

It’s not that it can’t be done, it’s just that navigating the track is easier with a mouse. I found having control of the loop points more useful. You could quite easily change this I think if you do use the forward and reverse keys to got back and forward. Play, Stop and Record works as you would expect. The jog wheel I think isn’t assigned to anything for the same reasons as above.

Im literally poised to order an X-touch - the only thing stopping me is wondering if the Presonus Fader Port or the Icon Pro Audio were any better

They probably are, but nobody has made Remote maps for them yet. I've written my own for some devices but I've also tried and failed with some devices and had to sell them again. I'm hesitant to recommend you buy an X-Touch based on my maps but I think it's probably the best thing out there at the moment for Reason. Personally I'd like to have the SSL or Softube fader controllers working with Reason but obviously I can't fork out that much cash only to find that it's beyond my abilities to get it working. I think there is also zero chance that either SSL, Softube or Reason Studios are going to do this for me.

One of the items I had to sell was a Presonus controller and it turns out it all works with Sysex instead of normal MIDI CCs, so I had to give up and offload it. The Icon might support Mackie control, but the reason Jaexx started on his X-Touch project was that the mappings were so poorly thought out. I can't say if a real Mackie Control might work better but just to say that my experience is that just because a device has manufacturer made mappings doesn't mean that they are any good, as they're often only bare minimum mappings just so they can say it works with Reason. You still need to modify them for your own preferences in any case because they're usually made by people who don't use Reason.

Here's more info on Jaexx's version:

The good thing I guess is that you have the option of this or mine. I ended up rewriting the mapping completely in a way that made more sense to me.

I still use 3 BCF2000 and a BCR2000 for the best part of about 10-12 years.
They were quite cheap compared with other devices that were available at the time, like the tascam and mackies, but they are supes dated and i think you cannot find them unless second hand now.

Another thing that newer devices are better at, is that the motors are a lot more silent. And context is always a problem, as the XTouch have a little monitor on each channel.

Hi - santa brought me nice new X-Touch. It may seem a stupid question but how do I install your map files in reason? :?:

Put the files here

You will need to create a Behringer folder for both Maps and Codecs.

Merry Christmas!
