I have a plan to put foam on the walls and basstraps into the corners in the next spring. My room is 4,5meters x 6meters so the room isn't that small. Anyway, I listened to some music and the reflections didn't sound too bad.

Finally settled on an audio interface and new headphones now I’m back to actively writing again. Was trying to wait for Black Friday but found some mad bargains.

After settling on the Motu M2, then on the EVO 4, the Arturia Minifuse 1 popped its head up at the final hour and I’m pretty impressed with the build quality and features for the price. Especially Loopback (why is this not built in to Macs as standard is beyond me). Absolutely perfect fit for what I need right now and for under €100, can’t complain.

Also went for the DT 900 Pro X. Had the DT 770 open backs previously but wanted a detachable cable this time round. As you’d expect from Beyer, lovely sound. Really punchy kicks, loads of sparkle in the higher end. Insane amounts of detail but I’m coming from Beats Mixrs so… Also got these from the B-Stock for €200 and free delivery.

Only run a few tracks through them so far both with and without Sonar Works and the difference is noticeable but minimal, which I’m impressed with.

Looking forward to finishing some mixes now I have a more reliable set up. Hopefully post some stuff soon.

I'm starting to learn not to recommend anything to people, because in the end, they will buy whatever anyway. x D

Kidding! Congrats to finding a decision, which I hope will serve you well!

Took me 2-3 years when I found my holy grails of audio gear... x _ x

I really want to build my rockwool absorber panels, too now. Finally improving my woodworking skills.

Also, how are those Adams? I wanted to get something alike, too in the past.

But your recommendations were appreciated nonetheless! Especially interesting to research frequency responses.

In the end, I’m always a bit of a sucker for aesthetics and get pulled in when I know I should focus on stats and what I actually need. I’ve become more rational with age which is why I really reigned myself in and went for some cost effective gear with the bare essentials, but I still had to get something to drool over at a bit. I knew I liked Beyer’s gear so that was an easy buy, and the Minifuse was just cheap and cute with all the right features.

Had this been 18 year old me, it would have been a different story. You know what my first “2 octave MIDI keyboard” was? An Andromeda A6 😂. I picked out an Edirol PCR M1 then just went to see “what does the most expensive/sexiest set of keys look like” in the store. Two and half grand later I had a very large analogue synth and a very large hole in my pocket. I never regretted that but it took an 18 year old me a long time to pay that back.

They sound full, clean with smooth highs and nice bottom end. I listened to the Crystal Method and it sounds very good. Overall it has a very natural sound so this should help you to hear what you do in a big manner. German engineering. I need to make my first tune on these and then see. But yeah, I didn't really like the sound of the KRK Rokit 5s which were my ex monitors. Anyway, I thought my room was gonna make my Adams be an overkill, but not that much of at all.

But frequency responses still don't matter much. x D Rather SNR, distortion, dynamic range.

Looks are important, too, but then you can just put something pretty next to an ugly device.
That said, hi-tech/premium quality tiny things were underwhelming for me, so I compensated with a 50" TV, and even I bought speakers for fun and their looks mainly (and multi-channel experiments). Thus ruining my full-studio-mobility concept.

Around that age, I already was cost efficient, and looking for the best decisions, finding the "holy grails". Granted, some of it is now dying crap; but what wasn't cheapo stuff, still works perfectly!

Good to hear, cause I read some complaining about the highs. I was considering Adams, too, in case I get into multi-channel work.

To test the waters, (mostly for entertainment, movies, retro games, and their looks) I got Edifier's T5 8" sub woofer + 2850DB with also 8" woofers, with the latter having a slight 'disco smile' eq flavor to it, but for listening, I actually like that.
This is a smaller, a little over 2x3m vocal recording studio, so half the size of yours, I think, and the T5 is just right. Worked perfectly with the 2850DB pair. As such, you should be much better off with a room twice the size, and Adam speakers, made for production. (Not dissing Edifier, but they are rather for consumption, Dj-ing I believe, than for production).
And I have R1000T4, possibly for rear speakers.

If the multi-channel stuff turns out to be fun, I'll probably build a set from Adams, too for that kind of work.

Bought myself a bass ocarina. I love it.
And I have a contrabass ocarina on the way, which is the largest one in the ocarina family.

Thanks man. It wasn't too bad but I ended up on an ECG in the middle of the night. Been alternating between dizzy spells, cold sweats, extreme tiredness and weak pulse about 6 to 7 times a day for the last 2 weeks. My girlfriend's a nurse so she forced me in to the emergency ward. Still no idea what's causing it.

Bought a Marshall Code 50 amp and footswitch for €150 at the local charity shop. Looks new. I am a bit wary of digital modelling amps though. Fender and Vox valves all the way.

Also bought a new shower head. Couldn't work out why the water pressure was so low. Looks like it was crap in the shower head. Anyway...fine now. Great week for the Figgster.

We replaced our shower head not long ago, felt like we'd had a bathroom remodel it was such an improvement!

Are you out of the medical woods then?

Hahaha. Yeah. Like a spa.
Nah, not sure. Was at the health centre today but they just took more blood tests. Still dizzy.

Thanks man. I’ve forced myself to go out running. May not be the best idea if it is my heart but I honestly don’t think it is. I think it’s some sort of Vaso-vagal reaction. So when I run it takes my otherwise low blood pressure up to a reasonable level and I feel less dizzy for a while.
