"The Legend" gone from Reason 11
Hi all,
yesterday I synced to install new REs on my authorized laptop with Reason11 and The Legend got updated to 1.2.8. Now when I open my projects it says it has missing REs, and indeed, The Legend is gone. It disappeared from the "Instruments" list. I created a support ticket in the meantime but could someone tell if this happens only to other versions of Reason?
I hope they roll back whatever happened there, I used and still use that instrument in all my projects.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards

You mention also not seeing it in the Instruments list either, which to me sounds like something was corrupted when updating. I would uninstall and reinstall The Legend. I never had an issue going between versions. But again, if you're not seeing it at all in the Instruments list, sounds like the update failed in some way.
Thanks for the fast responses.
I removed it and installed it again, but that did not help.
In my big desktop PC I still keep the 1.2.2 version, and the contents are quite different.

Indeed, I got this message from Synapse:
The Legend has been discontinued, that's why the page is removed.
We have released The Legend HZ as the new version of The Legend:
https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... legend-hz/
I am on win 11, reason 13 and have been able to install version 1.2.8. Tried standalone and RRP and the Legend is showing and working on both.
I wonder if it is worth raising a ticket with rs as only difference I see is that you are on r11 and me r13.

Thanks for the information: then it looks like they lost the backwards compatibility. What good reason could there be to throw away the backwards compatibility just when the developer stopped supporting the RE? Why not leave it alone in that state? I really hope this is just a mistake.
I raised a ticket already, yes, I am working this week on a project for a contest and was using the synth...
I am assuming something must have changed to make it not show in r11. Hopefully rs reply soon to your ticket.moggadeet wrote: ↑29 Oct 2024Thanks for the information: then it looks like they lost the backwards compatibility. Are you aware that if you contact synapse with evidence of owning the Legend re they will give you a vst licence for free? Just thinking you may be able to use that until you get the rack issue fixed.
Strictly speaking I think you (accidentally) broke the backwards compatibility by upgrading the Legend while having/using a more recent version of Reason in your account. Normally the shop will block you from upgrading any RE that has migrated to an incompatible SDK version with respect to your most up-to-date version of Reason.moggadeet wrote: ↑29 Oct 2024Thanks for the information: then it looks like they lost the backwards compatibility. Still the RE downloader could be more clever and get the right (old) version of the RE to match the SDK version of the latest version of Reason it can find on the system.
(p.s.: Opening an older version of Reason (like R8) when you have a lot of REs that got updated in the meantime is basically torture, as you have to click away an error message for each incompatible one.)
Last SDK is 4.5.0 and RE under it, support work under any Reason version from 10.1 and newer.
Problem not in SDK update and compabilty of RE with Reason version in range 10.1 - 13

OK, I stand corrected. Then I suppose a possible Hi-Res update of the RE instead might be the culprit here which possibly broke compatibility with R10/R11. Is your R11 updated to the latest version?
A faulty authorization of the RE license would also stop it from showing in the device list.
That is unfortunate. It shouldn't be a thing. It must have been some corrupt download.
I had that version of The Legend installed in reason 11> and it is also now installed in reason 12>> both installed with the VST's they gave me for free. Synapse is a great company with excellent fast support, and awesome cross grade options > in my experience.

I can run 1.2.8 in Reason 11 without any issues.
If you load your project and delete everything but the legend cardboard box and post it to me I will see if it loads up OK or not.
EDIT: I just found an old track of mine with Legend in it and it opened without issues in Reason 11, but the above is still worth a test...

Now this is really crazy. So at my laptop the authorizer decided to update to version 1.2.8 but then Reason 11 refuses to load the instrument at all and at the same time you have 1.2.8 in Reason 11 working. I really have no idea what is happening there.Carly(Poohbear) wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024I can run 1.2.8 in Reason 11 without any issues.

Do you have offline authorization at the laptop as I do? Maybe that is the difference and from now on I should never let the authorizer update anything since it seems that I will not be able to launch any device that gets updated. And I lose the former version that I was able to run in the update process. Could that be the problem?
In this whole thread you still have not given the exact version number of your R11 installation if it is not 11.3.9 this might be the missing puzzle piece (as that version had some changes regarding Authorizer and handling RE licenses).
That is a total drag... I guess it's up up to reason studios support now.
It is not a Synapse issue then.
All Racks pre 13 should work in 11... they state they will.

Relevant support article: Offline authorization is no longer available for Reason 11 and earlier:
So the updated REs will be available if you open Reason 11 using online authorization.
This also includes updated REs since each update needs the RE license to be updated.Offline authorizations created before September 25th 2023 will continue to function indefinitely, for as long as your system remains in its current state. Existing offline authorizations can no longer be upgraded though, and Rack Extensions purchased after September 25th 2023 cannot be added to an existing offline authorization.
So the updated REs will be available if you open Reason 11 using online authorization.
