Gotta post something or else the lack of proper house is too evident around here

There’s so many similar genres that I can’t tell the difference sometimes. Like drum & bass vs future drum & bass. Or downtempo and chill. Or black metal and death metal. Or trap & nu rap. And house sounds like a lot of stuff too. Sometimes it’s just a different snare sound or something that makes a different genre. Either way thanx for schooling me on house. Or is it electro disco?!

It’s a lot of subtle things that make something «x sub genre» but taken together they are very apparent if you’re well versed in the style. You got house which is a thing in itself, we can call it a genre, which is identified by the rhythm, instrumentation, tempo, vibe. Within it, are all the sub genres which all share the core elements but have their own distinct instrumentation variations and vibe which sets them apart from the other sub genres.
For example , some house style might only use electric bass and electric pianos and organic instruments blended with subtle, mellow synths, real drums layered with drum machines, whereas other house style might use heavy edm synths and noise risers every thirty second have a «sick drop , dude» and very synthetic and bombastic drums. They both might belong to the same house umbrella, their drums might even be playing the same patterns, however they wouldn’t be played side by side on a DJ set. They might not even be played together at the same party cause they have such different vibes, the listeners of one of them would never listen to the other, so a good Dj would know not to go there if they know their crowd.
Hope that clears things a bit more for you

Like this Phil, the bass is even popping on my tablet with terrible speakers. I like the AOR style vocals too.
It's interesting what you said about genres; I like house but for me it has to be the tasteful soulful sounds of minimal, organic, deep or lo fi house, or some 303 acid if i want something more banging and abstract.
Stuff with lots of risers, supersaws and a clinical sheen on the production isn't for me.

Thanks Popey and Tiny
Yeah, that stuff with supersaws and risers all over the place isn’t for me either ♂️ I guess you could make something tasteful out of the same elements, I’m sure I have enjoyed plenty like that, but the «in your face» vibes are a no for me.

Really great sound, everything sits in the right place & shape - I had a pleasant listen
