Nice, got a 110€ voucher for buying 13 early.
Cool
I hope they'll release a new synth/FX/player before the end of October, as I have all their products :)
Same here. I need something new to spend it on.

The voucher is a nice gesture. I got 25% off R13 from a dealer, so I've effectively paid only £50 for it. Which is just as well as it's just experimental to me until they restore R12 browser and favourites functionality.

Reason 13 also made me worry for the future of Reason. I haven't bought the upgrade and I'm also not in the mood to buy Rack Extensions since Reason 13's release because I don't want to risk wasting money on a software that in my opinion has an uncertain future. Even users who only use RRP complain about the new browser.
Some users say that they arranged themselves with the browser but I think the great majority of users still use full-HD screens and with that resolution the browser most likely is very annoying.
I also noticed that some users who used to post a lot in this forum have become silent since Reason 13's launch. That's not good.

They seemed to experiment with something that wasn't broken and it looks to me as if that experiment failed horribly. Reason users very often underlined that they don't like using VST plugins because they hate floating windows. And now one of the most important elements of Reason has become a floating window. How the employees at RS approved of this is still a riddle to me.
What I once learned during my economics studies is that acquiring new customers is 5 times more expensive than keeping old ones. And that does really worry me because to me they seem to do very little to keep their old customers and the competition in the DAW market is strong.

Reason 8 is when the browser changed from "floating" to embedded on the side (which is a change that I think was a good one) and in the announcement video they claimed to have "put the flow back into workflow". NOW they revert that decision and try to sell it to us as a workflow enhancement which is what R13 is supposedly all about. Like, are you serious?

They did a remix, if you will, of the sequencer and incorporated the tool window into it. Okay... I can see what they were going for here but again there doesn't appear to be anything really new or needed. In fact, a commenter on that R13 workflow video said it was now impossible to transpose more than one track's clips at a time with the new setup. So R13 users actually lost some functionality there. Functionality was also lost with the favorites list in the browser.

They added a gain device finally but that should have been added long long ago, when Reason first got audio recording (Reason/Record duo). I've got Selig's Gain and use it on EVERY single project by the dozens so no need for RS's version.

Polytone and Ripley both seem cool but are ultimately unnecessary and dare I say, a little gimmicky. Stereo Tool seems interesting though.

Basically, RS has a very long history of ignoring the community (a VERY loyal community I might add) feedback though they claim the opposite. I feel like the vast majority of people voted with their wallets this time and RS felt the sting of that with lowering the price temporarily and handing out vouchers to early adopters of R13. Let me be clear, I don't want to see RS go under as I'm a HUGE fan of their software AND their creativity. But I most certainly won't be buying from them just to help keep the lights on. R13 looks more like an update, not an upgrade and $200 is actually crazy.

Okay I'm going to have to disagree with everyone's criticisms with the New Browser. I absolutely Love the new browser once I actually stopped complaining and starting really digging into it. Can it be improved upon sure but I love having full screen access to all of my samples, refills, vst's, loops and sounds I didn't know I had or had forgotten about. At this point I can't even imagine going back to R12 it would slow me down. Once they detach the browser so can move it across screens and add more browser columns for detail info(Bpm, size, length, etc) you got a winner in my book. I would suggest just having an open mind and spending more time using R13...

I tried reason 13 so many times but it always left me with a feeling that it's not finished yet. I record a lot of audio and was easier to work with audio in reason 12. I must admit repley is a great device and the tools are very good too but the rest? All the stuff that's is moved around, the new browser and the new edit area. I don't know. It gets more in the way then help me with my production. So I m back to 12 and wait what the future brings. The only thing I don't understand is reason 12 gave us a new browser and reason 13 gave us a new browser. It feels like they don't have development plan for reason. But I still like the software a lot.

Can somebody PLEASE reply to me about the new browser? I was wondering if there is any option to view the size & lenght of the samples.. as it was in R12.. if not WHY would they messed up so badly ? I mean it was there for a Reason, people got used to it and it was very handy to for example sort the samples from lowest size to the highest. I just don't understand why remove this feature in the first place. I might just roll back to R12..

If you're curious about what is to come, I recommend that you sign up for the Reason beta here.
I think you might be pleasantly surprised. ;)

Working on many tracks now, I can agree they didn't truly improve the gui as fades are impossible to do sometimes despite having snap set to off, it's harder to browse the piano roll sideways, the audio editing choices were harder to find, deleting is prioritized to tracks over parts so I have to undo pretty often as the whole track can get deleted if I'm not careful.

I think the gui can be very hard sometimes, and connections for stuff like vocoding and external midi synths require quite many "advanced" steps that could have been simplifyed. Midi out and audio in device anyone? Sysex functionality anyone? Community driven synthesizer editors and patch storage anyone? ;-) "Upload combinator to all" & included in the program after final touches and fixes by RS. One editor per synth. Dream!

The browser's black and white gui makes it a bit weird sometimes.

Pro user since 1.0 and R13 sometimes feels like how bad I felt sometimes going from 3.0 to 4.0 as the latter made things more clumsy when you were used to 3.0 sequencing.

I always think ok they are smarter, I am dumber, so I need to learn the new versions, but really, they have not exactly made the workflow faster. It's just different.

I would have preferred much better audio clip fades & crossfades & yeah... editing parts opens up a space that eats 50% of the display too.

Coming from Cubase on Atari, Logic and PT even a full size editor wouldn't have been so bad if it had all tools more laid out like Photoshop and Krita where it is ... A) messy at first but ... B) super smart after learning those guis.

Reason can be redesigned in many ways. Why are some objects so incredibly large and ugly? The bar above everything sometimes makes me feel like going back to a small mixer as then I see the instruments as they should be seen instead of having this silly coloured bar above each and every unit.

While I'm at it racks shouldn't have to snap to the top as in a real studio you might position things exactly where you want them, not next above / under each other all the time. And to add to that: VSTs should never open under a combinator in this way. How cool if they were rack sized instead and could be expanded from such a view instead of being so anomynously looking in the rack.

The zoom is silly as I want a rack zoom only, not a complete gui zoom, looks unsexy, at least they could have added rack zoom only.

The gui is quite unmodern compared to Adobe, Apple Pro apps and so on. In windows they could have reached a more coherent graphically correct interface with less windows typefaces and more pixly cool Propellerhead stuff.

The intro logo is so awesome but just think if it would animate into the sequencer which would be black and have more of a today feel to it. More like a game or movie intro.

Hard to describe what I mean perhaps but I love pet shop boys' album covers and very very strict very correct but creative graphics.

It needs more proper art direction and more useability niftyness.

Personally I had loved if the gui looked exactly the same on mac and pc, overriding the system looks and going more Peff Rebirth skin type awesomeness.

Having said that I still find Reason inspiring as such but if they really want to go pro & get a zillion users it must be the coolest best gui on the market, five years ahead of everything.

I'd love if my Logic and PT using friends weren't so posh and snobby about their lifetime daw choices and saw Reason & dropped their jaws and said I must have this.
