Big thanks to Joachim at Reason Studios for putting this together  and special thanks to Loui as well :)

You can now easily search and browse all the the new content in R13 using this list. It's somewhere around more than 1,700 new samples, patches and loops.

Oh man, got super excited because I misread the title as: New in Reason 13, Favorites Lists.
Which I naturally/hopefully (!) assumed was the missing feature from R12 for Device Favorites not a list of the new R13 patches…
Oh well, still hoping, and I DO appreciate this fwiw. :)

On this topic, I gotta say how much I appreciate the categories and tags. It is very helpful when browsing large lists like this and so much more enjoyable.

It may change the way I make personal favorites lists—having only one or a few. When I can browse categories and tags, I don't necessarily need a separate list for my favorite "bass" patches—I just need a single list of my favorites and then I can browse tags for "bass" or whatever. It will be much more useful of course if and when we have custom tag creation. I'd still probably have separate lists for things that are based on projects, playlists, and special groupings like that. But otherwise, I'm happy now to potentially be able to just create one list (or much fewer lists) of actual favorites and then browse by tags and search.

I've updated the first post to include the "New in Reason 12" list for those who might've missed it before :)

Shareable favourites lists have a lot of potential.

It's a nice way to package a list of sounds and demo projects to suit a genre, theme or style of music.

Hi,

Can someone tell me how to create a favorites lists with my VSTs which I often use?
This option was very easy in R12, but can't manage it in R13.
Please help.

Thanks!

It's not possible any more and people have been rightfully complaining about this since R13 came out. The only workaround for now is to save (init) patches of the VSTs in a favourite list.

Really great lists. Are these available für older versions like Reason 10 and 11 too?

That’s a lot of work just to have it in an useless list that will become irrelevant soon enough, much easier to type control shift f and start typing the name of the fav vst, the result will be at the top, hit enter, et voila. move on with your day. 👍

A "New in Reason 13" favorites list sounds great but how does it work? I downloaded the file as instructed and put it into the favorites folder inside 'Reason Studios' (along with the 5 or 6 favorite files that were already there from installation). None of them show up in the Reason Browser!! I go via 'Computer' to the favorites folder in Reason Studios folder and it appears EMPTY. Like there's nothing in it. There's one called Effects.popular and instruments.popular, reason_shortcuts.favo etc.
NONE of them do anything. I can't see them or open them...nada...zip. What are these files suppose to do...any help?

Indexing most likely has not finished. Give it a few more minutes to hours (depending on the size of your sample/Refill collection).

If Reason is running when you installed the favorites list, you will have to restart Reason for it to appear. Shows up instantly for me. The 'popular' lists are the ones the show up at the top of the Create menu, they are your most used devices.

ok, thank you joeyluck, restarted (after a crash yikes) and "New in Reason 13" appears in Favorite Lists and appears to be working...cool.

Still having trouble getting older Refills folders to show up in the new Reason Studios / Refills folder. Reason Soul School Refill for example or Jason McGerr Sessions Refill. So I just moved them back to the old Propellerhead Content folder where I had them. That way, At least everything remains the same for using 12.
Also shortcuts is finicky about what gets put there...something like Drum Supply or Soundbank , no problem but something else that's inside a folder, it will show as being empty even when taking it directly from Locations/Computer... o well.

End of the day, I don't really have a problem with separating sample, loop and patch browsing away from Instruments, effects etc with a separate window, not the disaster its been made out to be but in 2024 browsing needs to be a no brainer...gotta work no problems. The Logic type hashtag search emphasis is fine as an alternative to traditional Folders, titles, nesting but I don't think I'm alone in saying that I hardly ever search descriptively. Properly named and organized folders and files still does 90 percent of the heavy lifting. Searching for something dark, dirty, analog and dangerous at 90 bpm will always be option B for a change of pace.

And if a Refill has NNXT patches but I don't have the device loaded then at least show me the empty folder so I'm reminded that they are there. Empty folders that aren't really empty are super annoying.

Yeah, still on 12 because of this - its a dealbreaker for me.
