Nifty list! Do you have one for the drum supply? Wait, no proper house, Joey? Reason has fallen off (for me)

Still unsure whether to bother as an RRP user although I was looking for this kind of discount...does anybody have a view on the refreshed library? Could swing it for me if there is a significant amount of content added as I use the factory library a fair bit, particularly REX for perc, toplines and whatnot. Are there new patches for the existing instruments and FX? The new delay looks nice but like everybody I have plenty of these and plenty of analogue synth emulations...
Looks like there are 329 new REX Loops in Reason 13, in the categories of Chopped Bongos, Chopped Congas, Chopped Guiro, Chopped Shaker, Chopped Tambourine, Cinematic, Downtempo Loops, EDM, Foley Perc, Grime UK, Latin, Techno, Trap, Uptempo Loops, Various.

There's also lots of new patches and samples. They say over 1700 new samples, patches and loops.

I made this sheet, focusing just on new loops, using the New in Reason 13 favorites list:
This is a very kind, detailed and compelling response, thank you Joey. All that extra perc etc is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for....decisions, decisions!

There are samples that aren't REX Loops, but not sure about the genre. Maybe if I get time I'll create a sheet of the entire list. I think you can also add the "New in Reason 13" .favo list and view it in Reason 12. It should show all the items I think, just broken/missing.

I can get Reason 13 for $106 US. I am a former Reason 8 - 12 user but did not renew my subscription to Plus. I now use LUNA as my main mixing tool and I like it. That said, I do miss Octo. For those of you who upgraded to 13, was it worth it?

Slightly offended they tagged the house loops as EDM, yet had a separate category for techno. 😕

Just upgraded and the Reason Bar alone makes navigating so much easier. Polytone is nice and Ripley is really cool. I couldn't resist playing with those first. I haven't used the new Reason Tools but they will get abused. I need more time with the browser before I can formulate a proper opinion on it.

Is it worth it? For $106?

For me, yes. I imagined that the new devices would justify the cost and they are nice but the redesign of the GUI is the MVP of the 13 upgrade. From the sequencer. to the edit window Reason 13 looks and feels more organized.

I just bought the Reason 13 upgrade (From Reason 8) for $106 at JRRshop and can confirm that Reason 13 is well worth the upgrade at this price. Prepare to be bounced around with the multistep upgrade process. Just follow the steps one by one and you will get there. I lost no 3rd party instruments or 3rd party rack devices. PS: Before I was a Reason 13 user, I was a Reason+ subscriber and a Reason 12 user.

EUR 119,00 incl. tax was okish for me despite the R13 shortcommings. Let's hope they fix it.

So just to be clear - I can buy this, get my registration code, but then stay on 12 until (either) they bring back the Favourites list (or) I get sick of waiting and download R13?

Yes, if you upgrade to a new version of Reason you still have access to any old version that you had a license for before the upgrade.

As long as they are not both open at the same time or has that changed?

As R12.7+ is using another kind of authorisation, I suppose now running a pre-12.7 and post-12.7 version in parallel would not trigger any warnings, but it likely is still not allowed by the EULA.

Pulled the trigger. It's not bad, the browser is annoying at first but I'm getting used to it pretty quickly. Plenty of room for improvement, for sure, but I'm able to do everything I need to do and there are definite workflow improvements alongside the awkward aspects

Ripley is the real star of the show imo

One thing I can't figure out: is it possible to do a quick & easy vertical zoom in/out in the sequencer? Horizontal zoom I get, but not vertical - both in the main sequencer and the edit/arrangement pane, I can't make it zoom vertically at all. Manual says pinch + Command + Shift on the Mac trackpad, but it's not working for me

Same, but mostly purchased to report bugs, as you can‘t without a license or sub. Also, the forums seem rife with them.

I‘ve a feeling the browser might suck all the joy out of working with this DAW, but I‘m willing to give it [another] try, after the extremely short initial beta test.
