My current laptop is starting to wear out and I'm thinking of upgrading/buying a new one

And wanted to check with you about what you think about this laptop for music production? good or shit?

What is the specs of your current laptop? I would suggest just getting a second hand laptop with a i9 9980HK.

Seems to me unless your going crazy with resource hungry VSTs then a newer system will not make much difference.

I don't buy computers or consoles second hand. Go for gold I say, if you got the "money, money, money".

My spec right now is:

CPU
Intel Core i7 7700 @ 3.60GHz
Kaby Lake 14nm Technology

RAM
64GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1064MHz (15-15-15-36)

Motherboard
Notebook P7xxDM3(-G) (U3E1)

Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@120Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (CLEVO/KAPOK Computer)

Storage
1TB Samsung SM961 PCIe NVMe (3200MB/sR|1700MB/sW)
512GB Samsung SM961 PCIe NVMe (3200MB/sR|1700MB/sW)

Audio
Universal Audio Twin X USB

I bought it in 2017 and it has worked and still work well "ish" but i notice that it is getting old and that the graphics card has started to glitch so I don't think it has much time left.

And i can't upgraded to Windows 11 because it is too old and does not support the requirements.

And if I'm going to buy a new laptop, I don't want a second hand.
I'm looking for a powerful laptop that can stand the test of time for quite a while and not become "outdated" after just a few years.

And money is not that big obstacle, my budget is around 4000 USD

And from what I've read so far, AMD seems to be better than Intel at the moment and that laptop has AMD's latest chip which should be quite powerful.
However, I have not heard very well about Asus support, which makes me hesitate a little.

I don't want to cash out that amount of money just to later on if there's any problems with the laptop have to argue and fight with their support and in worst case scenario stand there with an extremely expensive paperweight.

No, you cannot update due to the i7-7700....... I have have that processor too in my music Desktop PC.......

It's a shame as it is still fast enough for what I do!

By the way: I read on the WWW that it is possible to upgrade to Win11 with an i7-7700, but every time there is an update you have to do a lot of work to get it working again, it is a hell of a job to make it happen.

If you get a new i7 or i9 then that should keep you going for a while. So the Laptop you suggested should be great spec wise.

You won't notice much of a difference in single core performance , but everything else should be alot better.
