Looking through the Forum, I can see that most of you are (to me) pretty technically minded. I'm not! I'm new to DAW, and new to Reason. So if you're kind enough to respond, please keep it simple!
Issue is as follows: I've recorded my acoustic guitar as an audio track, then a couple of midi tracks on top. Happy so far - but now I want to record my electric guitar as the 4th track of the piece. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to hear the music I'm adding to.
I'm using the guitar through my Boss Katana amplifier, as that gives me the exact tone that I want to record. I know I could use my audio interface, but then I wouldn't get the tone I want. Can anyone help please?

Many thanks!

Just to clarify: you're saying your first acoustic guitar audio track and the other MIDI (presumably plugin) tracks aren't audible when you go to add your electric guitar audio track?

If you're recording any live audio into Reason as an audio track - ANY - you have to use an audio interface. Otherwise, how do you intend to get audio into your computer? Your Boss Katana amp, clapping your hands in front of a mic, singing, or sampling some pots and pans in the kitchen - all of this has to go into an audio interface to reach your computer (and DAW, such as Reason). Or are you saying that you just prefer to use your Boss Katana amp instead of plugin effects/amp simulations?

Is this something as basic as the guitar amp is so loud you can't hear the music?

I'm sorry but it sounds like you don't know how to hear your electric guitar while recording it? You got to click the little speaker icon on the sequencer track for your electric guitar.

If I'm misunderstanding what you mean, I'm sorry.

And I'm probably misunderstanding cause of course you can hear your guitar from the amplifier! Now you need to put microphones on your amp and record it! Unless your amp has a line out? Do amps have line outs? 😅

Well… “ blackbirdpaul” has 48 hours to respond, or we’ll assume it’s a bot.

Does that mean you have the Katana selected as your audio interface in Reason (from memory, it has its own driver on USB to allow re-amping)? If so, that might be the issue.
