I have been playing and writing a lot this summer. I have written 7 pieces over the last couple of months and plan to release an actual ALBUM that hardly anyone will hear. My GAS is well documented in this forum. There are several new things I have my eye on. I plan to finish this album. will be 11 tracks I think. Then reward myself with new toys. Here are the things I have my eye on;

1. Bruxa from Make Noise.

2. 4ms Meta Module

Is there any gear you will be acquiring in the next few months?

Those both look fun, and can't wait to hear what you come up with for your album! I've just entered the Eurorack effects world, taking the nautical themes of both Sealegs (Intellijel) and Nautilus (QuBit) - I'm am still working out how I'll use them (currently in a skiff for a live performance next month).

On my radar, though I have no real 'need' for either, I am torn between a Moog Muse and Arturia PolyBrute 12 (leaning towards the latter). I have a few things I'll need to sell first before either one can happen!

Cool delays, but I do not own either. I have the QuBit data bender. it is so much fun. I own the old polybrute. I love it. The muse is tempting but I own a polybrute. However, I am planning on a trip to Sweetwater in October. I might change my mind when I put my hands on the Muse. The mod matrix on the polybrute kicks ass the only other synth that comes close is my Hydrasynth.

Cool, look forward to your new album. I have no idea about euro rack but it's always fun and inspiring to get new toys 😊

Hopefully our foot will come off the pedal after a long hiatus rewiring and resorting the studio out for some serious beat cooking.

We've been building some Mutable clones (Clouds, Rings) and got a couple to build (Tides, Marbles) but we've nearly maxed out our Arturia RackBrute already with lots of fun toys in the box (Plasma Voice, GraphicVCO, SampleDrum, FXBoy, Mikrophone, Black Hole DSPs) paired with the MiniBrute 2..... then cable farm that off to 2x Neutrons + a Cat, Bodyssey, 7 Volcas(!), Electribes (EA and ES), Yamaha A5000, KS Rack, MS2000R, dbx compressors, XIX old skool units (all 3, looking arty), Supernova (on the bench getting 3 pots under the knife), Peak..... then all the MIDI kit and controllers on top.... all rounded off with Arc 4 Standalone (tasty).... oh and a 369-KT (holy fuck what a compressor).

The diy Eurorack approach can be quite enjoyable, especially programming up the STM32 chips and seeing these bay boys come to life.... and then laser etch panels as well (may redo in polycarb to infill with ink/paint, maybe).

Yeah full up here to the gills...plethora of options, but don't get us started on software (just upgraded to Cubase 13 for a steal, as much as a plugin!).... actually been a while since we burnt some digital spondoolies but don't intend to spend any (more), time to get the kit rolling with plenty of sound design and libraries we wnt to create for anyone up and coming, plenty to get on with final nails smashed in the coffin, now's the time we can get in the zone :D

Cool. make something great, but tell me about the plasma. Does it really do something cool to the sound? Or does it just look cool? Also all the mutable stuff is musical AF.

Plasma is a curious beast but can be a lot of fun, especially when layered with other modules / samplers / synths. We mistook it as an effects unit but it is actually an oscillator created from the plasma bulb. Very novel source. Quite a variety of sounds obtainable (7 banks of type + 7 'presets' to get you going, plus the faders and cv controls for added flavours) and can be gnarly, metallic for the SPARK settings, so not just a dirty bass maker, but an all round obscure pallete of signals to get you going. Will get value out of it for sure, especially since we're now plugging the modular stuff into a Blue Marvin we've picked up too (yeah we're going full R2 now lol)

Will be creating some waveforms with Graphicvco too as well as the Plasmavoice, so we can sample out and cross breed the oscillator cycles in Serum as well as the Novation Peak, just for even more filth, or wavetable ala Kontakt.... so many possibilities...

But yeah a lot of fun experimenting with the modules, and wapping Blackhole (Eventide) to create massive washes of cybernetic drones from other worlds.

We've just about finished a library for FM8 too which can dip in and out of the modular setup for overtones or added layers for more character / movement

We really are lucky to be in this age of high quality sound sources and creativity tools, all wrapped up within Reason being able to host most of the synth and modular controls (for more in and out noodling too, audio to CV and CV back to audio then Thor to convert audio to CV which is mental)
