DM-999 Drum Machine in the works (now in the shop)
New one coming from Ekssperimental Sounds! Autumn release, apparently
I'm looking forward to trying this one out. I use the Quadelectra 909 a lot. The snares sound nice. I'm a bit surprised to see a lack of outputs on this though – usually you'd want the option for drums on separate outputs. On the plus side I like that it has mute buttons built in and things like tuneable RS / HC /HH are a plus over the Quadelectra.
I liked the Ekss 606 quite a lot. If others in this series are planned I think the Boss DR-110 might be a nice partner to the 606.

I'd love to have all separate outs but GE/IDT only allows for 8 outputs (or 4 stereo pairs) in total. So I added PAN for all drums so you can kind of get all on separate channels by panning BD hard left, SD hard right on the first output pairs, send the TOMS together in the next stereo pair, CLAP hard left, RIM hard right in the third pais, HATS hard left and CYM hard right on the last pairs. Not ideal, but probably the best option with what's possible
UJAM's own Beatmaker REs have 16 mono outputs for the drums. Unless they did something different outside of GE?ekss wrote: ↑12 Aug 2024Hi Dioxide!dioxide wrote: ↑12 Aug 2024I'm looking forward to trying this one out. I use the Quadelectra 909 a lot. It might just be a limitation for 3rd parties using GE, or just for REs, or maybe they've extended it recently - I'll look into it, it would be great for several of my REs with more outputs!
The Beatmaker REs are 6 years old. Time flies!! So I would think if they made it with the GE it would be possible...?

Brilliant. I think I have everything from this developer and him making a 909. Now that's wild!

It was possible - hurray! I've been living with the belief that only 8 in and outs where possible since I built the 6CH Mixer but it turns out the restriction was only for inputs, thanks for this illumination!
Yes! How about Dub Preamp - I think it's awesome, but seems like it would be even more awesome with stereo ins/outs for Line In and Send/Return
Could you possibly make the small gold screw dials on the rear a bit bigger too? They're tiny.

Loving the Ekss live streams of late - keep doing them, they're inspirational and definitely making me covet the REs I don't have yet!
"Just producing no talking" used to be more of a thing on music production You tube and I'm glad Ekss is doing it.

Sure - they're not meant to be used more than in special cases so that's why I made them small panel-hole-trimmers. But I've come to learn the Reason crowd loves to tweak anything that can be tweaked - so yes - I'll make them a size larger in the update!
Thanks - I really enjoy opening up a blank project and just see what comes out while on the stream.Tiny Montgomery wrote: ↑16 Aug 2024Loving the Ekss live streams of late - keep doing them, they're inspirational and definitely making me covet the REs I don't have yet!

I was thinking about trying talking too, but maybe better in some kind of q&a stream on a scheduled date?
In the video looking at the back-side of the rack makes me feel dizzy, seems like the front of the DM-999 is wider than the back, well, actually the whole rack on front needs to be wider than on back ....
Distorting the perspective might be not a good idea ....

BTW I was the guy who complimented you on your "on the fly sound design" and said I loved the rim shot sound on the ES400 and you proceeded to go through the rim shot folder in real time auditioning them! It totally worked though lol (Think I said it was a keeper?).
You could maybe interject and say hello after 10 or 15 when you have something cooking, take a few "bless ups!" & questions from anyone on the stream , then move on and do another section?
OTOH I think your flow is something to behold so I'd not like to mess with it.
Do you mean the height? (top to bottom). To me, the rear is 'visually' smaller in height because the device is basically a wedge shape. The bottom part is slopping away from you towards the front of the rack.
No, the perspective distortion. Normally, in 3D you expect a perspective projection (with vanishing point), not an orthogonal (with parallel lines into the space). The feet of the virtual DM-999 in the video seem not to be mounted along the vanishing line, they seem to be on orthogonal lines, which distorts perspective, as this is not natural. The same for the width (lower border of the box) of the virtual DM-999, they do not seem to go along the vanishing line and thus seem to distort perspective / space.

hope that helps

Reason uses use an orthogonal projection for the 3D, notice that all knobs are equally presented without any perspective.
