I just saw these charts and electronic music is almost non-existent. Hundreds of thousands of genres simply don't exist. Is it all just a ploy to sell toy gadgets to children?

is the question, why isn’t “electronic music” in the list specifically? all of the genres in that chart include some amount of “electronic” sounds in them, depending on the artist/song. “electronic” has always been kind of a dumb word to describe a genre, for that reason, IMO. it’s a bit like saying guitar music is a genre.

Yes, these genres. The vast majority of them are sorted in a completely nonsensical manner.

But unfortunately we can't avoid using the same terms. And there is probably no other term for the more electronically instrumented things. Where else should you classify classic techno or house?

techno. or house. 😅

both are more descriptive and useful genre terms than “electronic”.

Even if only 3% of the lsiteners listen to you, at least you do what YOU want. And there's lots of bad music in hiphop, pop, rock etc. as well. But I can tell that after covid19 and Ukraine war and other happenings, people want new things.

Hah, and I thought hip hop/rap was pretty much dead, while dance music pretty much overtook pop, so in a sense this chart only surprises me in the fact that hip hop is so high. Pop would be double and it is mostly poppy dance music 🤷‍♂️

Edit: looking at the second chart my hip hop assessment was on point by the way it is going currently. Still think it is way too high. Another surprise use seeing rock so high up. Anyone listens to rock anymore? And I don't mean the classics. I mean new rock released recently.

Anyway what's the point of this post? Proper dancer music still niche? That's debatable but yeah appears to be mostly so, and that's great 🤷‍♂️ listen to pop stations and you see what happens when dance music gets bastardized 🤷‍♂️

The spaghetti monster would then have fun.

Lottery tickets have a more likely return. But I'm out of that music career age anyway.

Metal is probably also included in rock.

Since Napster the chats primarily show which audiences don't know how to get their music for free.
