Capt'n Big O

I have been looking for a wavfolder for my Eurorack synth for some time. I finally decided to purchase the Capt'n Big O to fill this role. There were plenty of options but Big Q is a budget oscillator designed by Pittsburgh Modular. For the less than most wavfolding modules I could get this one with an oscillator and a drive circuit. It also has an envelope if you flip some switching in the back making it a complete voice. I am not using it that way. The wave folder is everything I wanted including being cv controllable. The osc is fantastic as well. it is beefy. Has two FM modes and simultaneous pulse, saw triangle, and sine. The price was 140 US. It sounds freaking awesome. If you know my music you know I'm all about modulation and drive. The Capt'n delivers warm and sweet and downright nasty if ya want it. If you need a wavfolder I can't give this module a high enough rating. Plus when I see the Capt 'n I hear that voice saying iceberg, right ahead! Sofa king good. My rating is more stars than Super Mario Galaxy. Be well.

Which reminds me, I need to mess around more with the wave folder in ShapeShifter, I keep forgetting it's there!

Ha- one of the comments in that video asks about ATHF - I found two bands using the phrase in 1999, so both came before SNL and ATHF if my dates are correct…classic!

You can be the winner too, everyone’s a winner here if you have a wave-folder in your rack.

the wave-folder and the drive circuit are fantastic. The OSC has more beef than a Magic Mike movie. I also like having simultaneous outputs of the wavs. Everything on the Capt'n Big O is cv-able. It is easy to include its features in a patch. Capt'n Big O is the most influential naval officer in my life apart from the days in my youth I spent with Capt'n Crunch.selig wrote: ↑17 Nov 2023Three truer things have never been spoken!mimidancer wrote: ↑17 Nov 2023
