I recently upgraded from reason 10 to 12 and am having plackback issues on youtube and any audio outstide of reason.

I was having this issue in 10.4 and was able to go the control panel on the computer and change this but haven't been able to fix it in reason 12. does anyone know how to fix this?

If the solution above does not work, try going into the audio properties of your system (not Reason) and disable apps from taking exclusive control over the audio devices. Not sure if Mac has that (probably not) but this can solve such issues in Windows.

Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

I change my soundcard selection option in Reason when this happens.

Also, if you don't have multiclient audio-card, you might need to use the same samplerate for system sound and Reason. I had this problem with my last PC and this fixed it.

What audio driver are you using? Asio4All, for example, is notorious for completely locking out system audio when active.

Maybe the OP will come back someday and let us know that the problem was solved and let us know what the solution was. That would be nice.

If none of the solutions above helped then the problem might be caused by a mismatch in resolutions.
This is very audio interface dependent, but with my Audient ID14 if I change the resolution in Reasons preferences (ex from 48khz to 44khz, while my normal system settings are set to 48khz outside of Reason) then I lose the ability to play any other sources.
The solution for this in my case is to change the resolution in the interface settings before opening Reason.
