Nevermind. It was unplugged from the power strip. I feel so stupid.

You might be surprised how often that happens, I wouldn't feel too bad!

In the 90s I worked for a company that sold and serviced laser printers, and I remember at least one call from an irate customer complaining that their printer had faulted, I said "sorry to ask, but is it plugged into the wall and wall switch turned on", received an "absolutely, don't treat me like an idiot" response, then driven to the client site and guess what I found!!!

They paid the call out fee pretty promptly haha.

I was going to suggest talking dirty to it. Glad you got it turned on.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Some support organizations instruct the caller to do something like:
  1. turn the power off
  2. disconnect and reconnect all the cables, making sure they are seated firmly in their sockets
  3. turn the power back on again
This is mostly a ruse to direct their eyes so they can discover for themselves that the power isn't connected or the device is switched off.

If that happens, they are likely to think they have a funny story to tell or an apology to make, which is better than prompting them to get defensive and/or feel patronized and/or refuse to do the most basic troubleshooting.

But sometimes doing that stuff even "solves" an interesting problem (though it doesn't truly fix the bug that got the device into the bad state).
