I have always liked ART. Such a simple device to use. Because I am weird I have tried to reproduce its results with items in the Rack. Have any of you tried? For Sure ART is useful and easy. Sometimes I wish they put out an ART2 with some new flavors. Perhaps instead of media, they could be genre-based. You never know when need that New York Philharmonic curve. It would be great on a folky coffee house track. Like Os Pássaros da Noite would work great on Happier Than Ever. Or maybe something to help get that Head like a Hole sound. Can you put Flood in a rack device? OOH or that sound Alan Parsons got on Dark Side of the Moon. What new flavors would you like? In lieu of Media, what would you base the flavors on(genre, songs, etc)? Maybe you can mix them all up and get Birds of the Night, Wasting My Breath as You Get What You Deserve on the Dark Side of the Moon.

This is a topic that's been discussed before. Selig designed a few of the presets for ART, one of which is almost everybody's favorite: Tape. In one of the other discussion posts, he shared with us a Combi patch that recreates Tape with stock devices. Very cool. You might try searching the forum for that; I'd post a link here, but I really dislike the search function of our forum here on RT.

And I agree, ART2 would be most welcome. I have always wished ART had more knobs on it than just input, output, transform and wet/dry. I would like the ability to tweak more of the parameters than that. Maybe ART2 (if it ever happens) will give us more controls to tweak.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Without more on-board controls, I'm not interested. I inevitably want to get in there and make a few adjustments. Sixteen hardwired settings plus a generic Transform dial doesn't cut it.

Take a look at Ujam Finisher Retro if you're looking for something similar to ART:

https://www.ujam.com/finisher/retro/

If you want more control, then you might want to try multi fx plugins like XLN Audio RC-20, Excite Audio Lifeline Expanse and Console, and Thenatan Vybz.

Yeah I was surprised at how much I liked the thing. It looks ridiculous and I was fully prepared to write it off.
Eerie setting. I use that loads for washed out drones and things.
Some kind of convolution thing there. I’ve tried making things like it but nothing quite gets there.
I find generally that one knob can do some interesting things surprisingly. I’ve often wished for more parameters but I can’t say what that would be.
I wouldn’t mind patch loading. Just to be able to copy paste faster.

Sounds like you're describing the next generation of audio devices based on AI…

I did not think about the how. Just the Reason concept of instagam filters for your track. Is what you are describing even possible? I really like the tape and the vinyl filters on the ART.

I agreee that i would like more knobs too, but the voodoo of it is fun too.

More eerie style convolution
But I’m not sure you could push that any more.
Hard to say w out knowing what’s under the hood there.

Frankly…as an ART2…I wouldn’t mind just a full on Reason version of iZotope Trash2 but w the transform knob.
Just the convolution section.

Im still sour about the dropped support for Trash.

For me the retro aspects of art aren’t the main points. It’s the bizarre things that produce unexpected results. Circuit and the little robot toy and the pipe settings. You just never know where they’re gonna go.

So for special coloring and Filtering, maybee give kuassas harmonitron a try it´s still a multi pitch shifter, but it cann add phasing and filters to the sound ass your searching for tested it yesterday with after valley plate in a effect chain and it´s tuning and filter capabilities can ecxactly be used as a neoclasiic filter circuit with a kind of phased coloration, so my hearing experience. But at all not a two knob device like ART or finisher..... Still tried the free finisher what was some time ago a freebe at PB and it was okay, nothing spectacular or revolutionary, I would say 99€ three time to much money for this plugin bundle!

Be sure to catch it on sale. Quite often you can get it for 50% off and sometimes they also do some promo sale of single plugins with 75-80% off.

I'm not a fan. The Tape setting is fine, but there are dozens of excellent tape plugins out there with more options for tweaking than a single "Transform" knob. I've had a bit of fun with the Eerie setting (cool ghostly effects if you automate Transform) but it's a one-trick pony and I'm kind of done with it. PVC and Wash can sound OK but again, need more control. Overall I don't really get the enthusiasm for ART
