Mattias confirmed during today's live stream, via the chat, that the new Reason instrument that was scheduled has been pushed back. But he also confirmed that it’s going to be bigger and better than first intended, my paraphrasing not his. Still no word on what it will be though.

I was hoping for a release today during the stream but no luck. At least VST3 is coming for those who wanted it

The only thing I can think of is a truly modular synth where you can add as many modules as you like. Complex 1 is great but very limited. Other than that I can’t think of what could be missing.

I hope it's a Minimoog knockoff because there aren't enough Minimoog knockoffs.

I wish for a modular thing like vcv rack but IN the actuall rack where you can patch cables thru devices on the front over the rack spaces etc. combining with the devices allready there but those will ofcourse be at the back as usuall :)
Cables on the back AND front....whoho what a mess!!! but in a goooood way :D

There we have it guys - it's going to be a physically modelled cowbell.

Ryan must be bummed that we still aren’t getting the physically modeled Banjo.

Hard to speculate now.

Maybe an Analog style Polysynth or "Tape/Warblyish" something either something "Diva/Thor'ish/Alorithmish" to where you mix and match components and more focus on Analog "80's, Poly" type sounds as Synthwave or "Lofi" styles stuff is popular nowadays.

I'm guessing since they use the word "Big", it will have either a modular or "mix/match" type of workflow like what they did with Algorithm. I'm leaning more towards the latter though.

Another avenue could be something more "80's Digital" like a D50 that combines sample playback with something "VA'ish", but I guess this already is kind of achievable using Combinators or something like Europa.

It probably also will have cool effects like a Tape Warble, or "Chorus/Echo" module and double as an effects Unit.

Probably good they are waiting as they are making sure it will be something really unique compared to other VSTs

Some manner of vintage synth emulation seems like a decent guess (probably more akin to DIVA than just recreating an instrument). Those are pretty hot right now.

My other best guess is another physical modeling synth like Friktion, but for other elements of the orchestra.

Mattias, if you can, a teaser hint or two would be fun!

I would love a Jupiter 8 or Matrix 12 simulation that doesn’t put my cpu in a chokehold like Arturia’s.
I love Arturia products btw :D

LOL..was gonna post "modular cowbell" but selig was first. But new instrument. Exciting nonetheless :) but pushed back could be like spring. But time moves so fast that it doesn't matter. Does anything matter? Ok, back to nothing!

You laugh, but you can get a hell of a lot of range from a cowbell.

The way you palm it changes the tonal dynamics. You can do subtle things like gently releasing your palm while striking to create a filter envelope effect.

Where you strike, and which part of the stick you strike with also make a difference.

Plus you can also subtly manipulate the pitch while playing.

It's the same for most percussion instruments.

So maybe the joke's on us and they really have created some sort of modular percussion device complete with cowbell, triangle and cuica (one of my favourites) 🎉

What about Friktion? The resonator has a banjo. Although I guess it might not come with any basic banjo presets. Worthy of an update for sure.

Yeah a cowbell that is like Klevgrand's Guiro would be cool. https://klevgrand.com/products/guiro
That's a fun VST worth checking out. Maybe they could be the ones to make the Cowbell Pro plugin lol.

I hope for a Synth with a stellar sounding filter. Thor 2.0 with zero delay feedback filter and stereo osc.
My feelings are, that the filters in the RS synths are the reason why nowadays I use 75% of the time diva, legend, repro, arturia mini, or my analog arsenal. The only synth in the RS realm i really find has that thing to its sound is complex. Europa can have interesting sounds, but for me, the last 10% is often missing :-)

To quote somebody on KVR, polyphony is a fad.
