Ableton Live no longer being sold through other retailers

I just noticed this, but I think it's been this way since the beginning of October?

I guess Ableton is banking on the popularity of their name/product to sell the software from their site only?

They avoid giving retailers a cut, but it's at the cost of customers who are new to DAW software browsing popular sites like Sweetwater and then deciding amongst those options and not Ableton Live. Not sure if they increased their advertising...

Was there an official announcement about it? I searched their site under 'news' and didn't see anything there.

From what I can see this does not seem to be the case in Germany at least: Plenty of resellers here.
