From what I know it´s simply there, possibly to showcase in any case :-)

Yeah, well I want it to pack it’s case and get the hell out of my browser.

I've actually never paid any attention to it, other than always seeing it in the browser. So weird. I've never actually opened it since it was introduced, I've always just ignored it. I'm kind of floored by that, now that I think of it.

And now I'm bugged by it too... thanks for that MrFigg! And I suddenly have a bunch of questions. So I just clicked on it and am wondering about it now. Are these patches the same for everyone? And why are these patches in the showcase? What's the reason behind that?

I just opened up my show case folder and yea it contains the same exact patches. Strange I never thought to open it up before now. I always assumed that it was their as a means of dragging and dropping patches into that you may have liked so that you didn't have to hunt around for them. Of course I have never used it for that purpose assuming that it can be used like that.

I tried deleting the file (%APPDATA%\Roaming\Propellerhead Software\Reason\Showcase Reason 10.favo) and it didn't help. The file gets recreated on the launch.
I'm wondering where Reason pulls the contents from. Maybe from factory refills?

I wonder if you could put a blank dummy file there instead

Better than a blank file a custom favourites list file renamed to this might make this browser entry more useful.

I put a blank dummy file there and then used Finder's 'Get Info' to Lock the file.
That's removed it from the sidebar on my machine.

Amazing. MrFigg strikes again!!! Suddenly something that nobody was even bothered about has become the highlight (or lowlight) of our day.

I hope you're proud of yourself!

I was hoping that it was something that received weekly / monthly updates "showcasing" different patches maybe popular ones or sounds that are trending etc.

IIRC it was introduced a few versions ago. I think the comment at the time was that there were thousands of sounds in the FSB and it would be helpful to have a collection of standout patches to compete with the likes of Serum, etc, that put massive sounds front and center in their presets. It's the "new to Reason? Try these to see what it's capable of" folder.

Ruined some, saved someone else's. I just opened it up, browsed through random patches there, found what I liked and created a short 20 second loop with a catchy melody :D

You do know you can delete those default patches, right?
I cleared all of them long time ago and use 'Showcase" as a placeholder for my own Combinator performance patches only.

You can also create your own favorites lists and don't have to hijack the Showcase list. I'd be surprised if people didn't know that, but since some people didn't even know about the Showcase list that's been there forever. It was even there in Reason's old modal browser:

It's been updated over the years.

So maybe some people don't know about creating favorites lists?

As I'm sure is true for most of you, I use Reason pretty much every single day. I've seen "Showcase" hundreds, if not thousands, of times; I've just never clicked on it. And that fact really blows my mind. I mean... really. WTF? And it's the only icon in the far left side of the browser that I hadn't ever clicked on. I really only use the first 4 (instruments, effects, utlz, players), song samples and then my custom folder links at the bottom.

This worked for me, thanks for the tip! Nice to be rid of the Showcase folder completely.

On Mac, I just used TextEdit to create an empty txt file. Renamed it, dropped it in place of the real one, which is called "Showcase Reason 10.favo". Not sure why it says 10, as I'm using 11 Suite.
