We are currently testing a new Auto-scale implementation in the Reason beta. This feature allows the user to select which VSTs should follow Windows scaling, and which should have auto-scaling set to Off. Since all VSTs behave differently with Windows scaling we decided it's better to have an option to toggle auto-scaling On/Off on a VST-individual basis. In the Reason 12.2.4 beta, it defaults with auto-scale set to Off for all installed VSTs.

Read more about the new auto-scale implementation in our beta section.

If you wish to participate in the beta, please sign up here: https://www.reasonstudios.com/beta-test/signup and I will let you in.

Note, you are required to have a registered Reason 12 license, or a Reason+ subscription to run the R12 beta. If you have an older license, it will open in Demo mode as well.

glad to hear this is being worked on.

So it looks like this was addressed to an extent but I'm still having issues with some VSTs.

1. VST working correctly
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8jdortaw78xvrza/plugin1.png

2. VST is too small
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nitsmka2s6vq0zj/plugin2.png

3. Turning auto scale on, VST is too big and unusable.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/okuzpywyhgzh2s4/plugin3.png

4. And this is how it looks properly in Reason 11
https://www.dropbox.com/s/w6y41wjr9bpmk ... 4.png?dl=0

Could you not just make it work the same as in R11?
Should I just buy a different monitor (that is not 4k)

Several VSTs are unusable now after the autoscale feature was introduced, for me. Whether I turn the feature on or off, certain VSTs just won't render correctly at all.

To illustrate, here are screenshots of Serato Sample with autoscale turned on, and then off.

AutoScale ON - GUI is blurry and not scaled to fit the window, only part of the GUI is visible.

AutoScale OFF - GUI is crisp and clear, but still not centered or fitting the window so it can't be used. plus now the window itself is smaller.

This same behavior is seen in other VSTs as well.

I don’t want to see the next ten years of development go in to tweaking rack zoom levels and funny windows. I vote for finishing the HD assets and moving on. I think the things that are currently HD look great.
100% I have yet R11 on my laptop and I will not upgrade it to 12. Too much Vram. It already struggles with R11 Vram.
I vote for lite optimization. I'm not against multiple zoom levels for different windows. Just worried the base process could suffer
from increased parallel resources usage.

So I just upgraded Reason 11 to Reason 12.5 and all VST windows are micro small as shown in the pic. I can't even use most of them with the windows so small.

I'm on Windows 10 64bit. Any ideas on how can I get the VST windows back to normal size?

Thanks. Even after doing that and restarting my PC I'm still having issues as shown in the new pic.

Annoying that I have to save patches to reload every instrument. I thought Reason 12.5 would be stable.

Now both Reason 12 program and Serato Sample VST blinks constantly to a black screen when I'm trying to use the software making it glitchy to work in Serato Sample.

To make matters worse I can't even open the song back in Reason 11 now since I opened it in Reason12.

Is there any way to make this blinking stop?

I'm experiencing a similar issue after upgrading to Reason 12.5.

Did you ever get Serato sample to work properly in Reason 12?

Reason 11 is definitely the most stable version. I'm feeling like I wasted money upgrading to Reason 12.5.

Have you tried setting the high dpi settings for Reason under the compatibility tab?

Screenshot 2021-11-27 175305.png

I decided not to buy a 4K monitor so I don't have a problem but vst's might display better if you use override and choose system or system enhanced.
This solution seemingly resolved the small VSTs issue:

For anyone else experiencing this issue, I seemingly resolved the issue by changing Reason 12's DPI settings.

Right-click Reason 12's desktop icon > click on the "Compatibility" > click "change high DPI settings" to access:

I saw your post on Serato forum too, but couldn't reply anything because it says I must agree with terms and conditions and there are no confirmation buttons to agree with it. Can you help please?

Btw I'm on MacBook m1 and Serato hangs FL studio when awaking Mac from sleep, so there are a lot of problems I think

Super hint,
I never heard of this setting dialog in task mangager, really nice, now some vst ratios got much better,
only the overall gpu/scroll performance feels lower, but i think that´s really okay on my outdated gt730,
when I hear what problems some people have now especial with this apple metall 3 gpu API software customization.....
Att all now it´s shitty when your machine has only HD3000 igpu..... still waiting for 16core mobile cpu´s at M2max eye level

Uhhhh.... that's weird. Not an issue on my (admittedly really old) PC that's over a decade. Serato Sample's VST window is scaled properly/fine without messing with any of that DPI settings stuff in Reason or my OS. What version of Serato Sample are you on? I'm running 1.4.0.61 on Reason 12.5 d29 (which is the latest stable channel) and it looks fine:

For the record, Serato Sample 1.4.0.61 had a fix for HiDPI support in Windows.

You are a freaking genius, thank you! That solved the problem! Man, the reason support people wouldn't even try opening Serato Sample to even reproduce the problem, complete waste of time. But you, my friend, have shown us the solution. Thank you! My VSTs finally render in a usable way in R12.

Seems like an unnecessary strain on the GPU resources to me. What would be the advantage of having multi rack windows with different viewports? And how would that work in the Reason Rack plugin?
It shouldn't be.

Once they're loaded into memory your GPU should be able to handle it. It'll be rendering the same number of pixels anyway.

I'm using a 4K monitor so the native scaling is 3840x2860 and the recommended scaling is 250%.

I have the latest version of Serato Sample (1.4) which they say includes a fix for rendering on Windows HiDPI display, but I'm not sure what that means. It doesn't work in reason 12 unless I do the "compatibility" hack on the executable as the other person described above.

This is still a problem, actually even a more painful problem. I cannot even see the full VST since 3/4 of the UI is hidden.

See video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxo30zryx7x58 ... .webm?dl=0
At first full UI appears but then after a second it disappears.
This happens with Izotope plugins. How are you guys making music with Reason 12? I find it impossible to use very common VSTs and I am really regretting buying it.

What are your auto-scale settings for Izotope ?
I find they must be set to "No" ie no autoscaling. And Izotope plugins misbehave badly if this is not the way they are set.

Find the auto-scale in Wibdow/Manage Plugins
