I recently found myself a pair of Event 2020 BAS v3 for super cheap and have found i enjoy working with them more than my expensive unity audio monitors.

In a similar vein I find my HD6XX far more useful/enjoyable than my higher priced srh1840s.

What's everyone listening on? Do you love them? Why?

I actually don't use typical studio monitors. I switched to using a pair of Roland CM-30's years ago. I think I've had them for close to 15 years? I like the sound and the frequency response, which is fairly flat. There's EQ adjustment on them, which I leave flat. I'm very familiar with their sound and mixing with them translates well for me when listening through other systems/speakers.

Just looked them up as I'd never heard of them before. Those things look interesting!

Ayyy, you too hey? I've only had them for a couple days but I'm loving them so far.

I was using REW to measure their response in my room and they were supprisingly flat. Bit of a bump from 100hz to 400hz, but nothing crazy, and i was surprised to see them (gradually) trail off from 100hz down, as the bass sounds so big.

I am using a Focal Elegia headset with a DAC Askel&Kern SR25.
I also have a pair of A&K T9IE that I use only for mixing/mastering.
After I am using my sony 1000xm4 to "real life" sound proof. The sony are adding a shit ton of bass so if I have too much, they will tell me.

I love listening to demos on YT of whatever and the youtuber goes "You'll need headphones to hear the bass".
I am like "Nope! I am fine."
Feeling physically sick hearing something strange? I open my (RME) Totalmix window, and I switch to mono. Yep, out of phase bullshit confirmed!
I wish I'll find a brand new pair of Opals, when or if they die 20 years from now

JBL LSR6328P main monitors with JBL LSR6312SP sub, also Equator 6” and 8”, Yamaha (NS10) and Output/Barefoot (the newest member of my monitor family). I also use a Roland Cube monitor as a full range single source mono check, and have various (mostly AKG) headphones as reference when needed. I spend 75% of my time on the JBL system because it can go comfortably loud and still sound fantastic, which is great for getting ‘inspiration’ - plus I’ve had them for almost 20 years now and totally trust them.

Yeah I was going to post about my system, but with the amount of hearing loss I'm experiencing, I just assume they sound good cos I paid a buttload for them.

Got a pair of old MAudio BX8a ... I don't know if it's just cause I switched to headphone use for the last 3 or 4 years, (or just that I'm hearing their true character now) but man they sound like absolute dogshit. Gotta get something better at some point.

Adam F7, very pleasant, almost hi-fi like sounding. No screaching mids like I experienced several smaller Rokits. Went to a shop comparing many studio monitors including the usual suspects and others, yet found the Adams to be the most pleasing. Currently not working with those though as I would first have to find an appartement for setting up a studio, yet I worked on them already quite a bit and they are pretty good for both, studio monitoring and also simply listening.

For the time being I am on AKG K612 Pro, a little light on bass yet a very clean/clear sound. Not really suited for monitoring to finalise, yet a pleasant headphone all around, aswell quite affordable at around 120 Euros at the time I got them.

Alesis M1active here, have them for years now. Together with my acoustic treatment, I get an almost flat response from them. Sonarworks just ironed out a few minor bumps, switching it in or out is barely noticeable. They do fall off pretty steep below 30 Hz though, but I'm not mixing for clubs, so I'm good

Audio Technica ATH-E70 in-ears.

While a bit expensive, they have surprisingly good dynamics and punch to them, likewise with detail, and obviously wideness. And they are always in place.

Mackie mr5. Not the best but had them for over 10yrs so know what they sound like. Academic really as due to kids etc I tend to have to use headphones 95% of the time.

Alesis M1 MK2 had them for close to 20 years
and a 200Watt PA system running through a Behringer composer pro xl,
not for mixing or mastering but what else should you be using for a club test system (makes over 100db in my room) ;)

This is my next big purchase so I've been researching hard. They'll be for listening more than making, and I don't want to be replacing or upgrading them. Just getting used to them for years and gradually tweaking their surroundings.

I've narrowed it down to APS Klasiks or Focal Shape Twins (though I'll probably try Focal Alpha Evos too.)

The idea of going somewhere to test a dozen or more monitors fills me with dread so I won't be doing that. Also, I can't seem to find anywhere with a testing room in the UK who have both these monitors.

Not familiar with the monitors mentioned, so I cannot comment in comparison, then like already posted above the Adams are quite suitable for listening aswell as for mixing.
Just recommend at least checking them out. There´s merely the successor of the F7 being produced though and haven´t heard those yet couldn´t tell and compare. Just assuming they are of similar or even improved quality: https://adam-audio.com/de/t-serie/t7v/

Thanks! I'm quite sensitive to treble and prefer less of it, and I'd got the impression Adams are quite sharp or treble-happy. I'll give them another look!

At least with the F7 I feel their treble is clear, yet smooth, not sharp. Sharp I would describe the mids of mentioned smaller Rokits.

I'm faithful to my Tannoy Reveal 502's in my main little studio. Always love their sound and quality (compared them in a listening test vs many other brands)

But I'm also building kind of a separate portable studio setup, and I'm interested in getting a 3.5 or 4 inch woofer monitors that will be able to fit in a small luggage of music stuff for when I travel and etc.

I've seen that the Presonus eris 3.5's have great reviews, but wondering what else you guys would recommend in that size? I may even just get the Tannoy 4 inch model. I'm also a mixing and mastering engineer as well as a producer and I've found that my songs (mostly my recent ones) sound great in many kinds of playback methods: cars, big speaker systems in a small club, consumer electronics, cheap and expensive monitors, headphones, earbuds, etc.

I use Eve Audio SC 205 monitors, who are very neutral and with not so harsh highs than Adam A5x. Also if i decided to buy new monitors, the Eris E5 sounding well, but not so precise like the Eve’s how are sometimes to neutral to get a balanced mix for normal stereosystems. Before i have used passiv Yamaha NX E400, i think thats the cheapest way used to get a good sound. My new setup for jams are a Silvercrest XL 30watt bluetooth box from Lidl Market wich is amazing for its price, together with a mclelland bpa 30 guitar box.

For a very portable on-the-road studio I think the iLoud Micro monitors from IK are pretty decent.
