There have been many people contributing various files, patches, combinators etc. to the Reason Talk Forums. As we have all benefited from these kind folks, I thought I'd like to contribute something I have been working on this past winter.
The Ambientia Ethereal Dreamscapes Sound Pack is mostly composed of MIMIC patches and combinators using completely seamless looping audio files. There are also some Grain patches and combinators as well as some Rostnomo combinators. The musical possibilities are almost endless.
For me, creating this sound pack has been an amazing journey of learning and with help from some great people along the way such as EnochLight who provided advice on how to get the audio loops to be seamless in MIMIC. Without his advice, this sound pack would have been dead in the water... so my thanks goes out to him.

Nice. Thanks.
You forgot to assign the Attack/Release to the second MIMIC or was it intentional?

Hi Loque, you're most welcome. When I realized that adding a second MIMIC doesn't automatically assign it to the knob I was going to go through each combinator where there were two or more MIMIC patches and manually assign them. After the first 2 or 3 I found that I liked the layered sound better with only the first MIMIC patch assigned. There are a few other parameters, such as PAN which I only assigned to the first MIMIC as well. I have a slight hearing impairment in my left ear which may have played a small part in my decision but I was very careful to keep an eye on the meters to make sure the balance was "technically" correct.

NP. The idea with the patch is there. I like to make a pad to a pluck and and a pluck to a pad. I can work around it when the assignment is missing.StephenHutchinson wrote: ↑08 May 2022Hi Loque, you're most welcome. Thank you Stephen!
I like these patches so much.
I'm going through the mimic patches right now.
My favorite so far is the constellation patch.
Could I ask how you made the audio loops?

You're very welcome. Making seamless loops is a bit complicated but I've written down the process and these are the steps I use:
1. I start by creating original custom designed combinator for each sound file (usually with quite a few different patches but no effects). I set the tempo to 120 bpm and then I will record (using middle C as the note) to create a full 1min+ "sampling" of the sound.
The next few steps are a bit tricky...
2. Chop off everything after Bar 25
3. Cut slice at Bar 13
3. Set loop locater to Bar 17
5. Take first slice move it to the end, move end slice to
beginning.
6. Press and hold "X" down while moving the "new" end part over the "new" beginning part to create a crossfade. This creates the "seamlessness" which will make it a never-ending loop.
7. Make sure the ending bar for the entire new loop is Bar 17 (for a 16 bar loop).
8. Export the 16 Bar loop to a 24bit 48kHz .WAV file into "Exported Seamless Loops" folder.
9. Open up a MIMIC Creative Sampler" and drag the loop into it.
10. While you can try and do this with the steps above, there may be times when you will hear pops and and such. Unfortunately, this is because MIMIC is not a perfect sampler like say Ableton Live, or Bitwig's samplers. Even the new Waves CR8 sampler is perfect for these seamless loops.
After scratching my head months ago about what to do about MIMIC's inability to seamlessly loop without pops and clicks, I was told by EnochLight that sometimes you have to move the start point a little bit to negate the the offset and get rid of any popping and clicking. Without his advice, there would be no Ambientia Ethereal Dreamscapes, so my thanks goes out to him.
So instead of trying to knock yourself out making a perfect MIMIC loop, just grab any of the patches I've created and your seamless loops will already be perfect thanks to what was mentioned above.
I plan to create a video walkthrough of how to do these steps completely so stay tuned for that.

Woah! Thanks so much for the steps!
I just successfully made one with the friendly keys patch.
I call it the endless friendly keys patch! ><
I set the release to infinite too, so that it just keeps playing!
I'll continue to enjoy the patches you've made too.
Thanks again Stephen!

Hey, you're very welcome... and that's awesome! So much fun eh? Once do it a few times, it becomes natural. Now you can make a ton of different sounds!wowhow wrote: ↑09 May 2022Woah! Thanks so much for the steps!
