Hmm. Yeah.
Truth is I don’t care about most of the complaints that person made or issues they pointed out there.
I just don’t want reason to fold.
I’ve got too much time invested in it and I can’t afford any viable replacements even if I were so inclined.
But yeah. Pull your foot out props. Stop w the gimmick junk (players and content and shit) and take reason to the next level (rebuild the sequencer).

Pretty much my sentiment, I don't want to say reason couldn't be improved but it's grown a lot from what it used to be and i liked what it could do thenTruth is I don’t care about most of the complaints that person made or issues they pointed out there.

I actually like what it is. it was actually a concern when I went reason+ and got r12 which was a massive jump from where I was as I knew it would be a lot different, possibly like using a whole new daw/sequencer but it was intuitive and I was able to just crack on but with a lot more to play with.
My opinion might change if I find something I cannot do

I completely agree with what she says 100%
This is so funny and totally expected - the "second" YouTube influencer who not only publicly admitted copyright infringement but then gets the platform to throw their weight around after getting pissed at what quite frankly has been the biggest disappointment year after year with Reason Studios.
I saved and brought a license for Reason standalone at version 1, I've purchased every single version I've never used cracked or in any way pirated products and just like many others have invested into the Reason ecosystem over decades and all I've ever wanted is improvements.
I still think Reason is the most creative environment I've ever had and although it's definitely disappointing to see the direction taken over the last few years I still have hope that the developers will continue with the improvements that are missing but it's still funny that the chosen ones are now causing problems with their masses
Is it me or do lots of the people ask for improvements that ain't that big of a 'game-changers'?
The biggest game-changer regarding Reason are the users themselves imo.
And I don't get the logic, so if Reason 5 was already a dream-tool to make music with, than why ain't Reason 12 for million times even more?

For the same reason that the MPC3000 was a killer device when it first came out, but while still as capable today as it was when it first came out, is just not on par with what's available today.
Reason 5 can still load the same Refills it could load back in 2009/2010. But a lot has happened in the last 10 years both inside and outside Reason.
Mozart would give a faceslap to those that mock Reason and not their own attitude regarding Reason. Sure, there's some things that could be added, but 5 years later there will be new set of features that some are crying for, just like always. The computer music is based on the midi and the instuments/effects mostly, not the formula features to ALSO draw midi like everybody else too.avasopht wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022For the same reason that the MPC3000 was a killer device when it first came out, but while still as capable today as it was when it first came out, is just not on par with what's available today.

Maybe I need to watch it again but I didn’t really get the point of her video. It was mostly a walkthrough of the history of the product. But I guess it’s interesting hearing that someone who’s gets paid to make patches for a piece of software isn’t happy with its evolution.
I just switched back to Reason 12 from Logic after using Logic for a few years. Reason is so much easier to use, it's a relief. My head hurt when I tried to do simple things in Logic. I am actually enjoying Reason's sequencer. As well, the high-res graphics are amazing. I guess I am one of the lucky ones that runs Reason without any problems. I generally don't use VSTs, maybe that is why?

So I wonder (now that I'm not on Reason+ and can't check) if she's still producing Sound Packs for Reason. Am I correct in thinking that that Venus Theory kinda dropped off making Sound Packs for Reason almost a year ago?

I think most of her points are valid. But none of them bother me. All comes down to expectations and needs. I play keys so I don’t care about the captain midi plugins. And players are nice for when I want to do something creative out of the norm.
Repackaged refills was a simply don’t buy it thing for me. But I actually get some value out of the piano RE for creative use and sometimes even the Drum RE having them with R+. Pretty much every company repackages their content. How many zen core synths is Roland going to make?
I’ve also long since let go of Reason being my primary audio tool. It excels at being a creative workstation for music creation. I’m happy to do my recording and mixing elsewhere.
I still think we get these major reactions from super brand loyalty. I mean, I’m pretty loyal myself being a mod here and a sound pack creator, but not to the point where I’ve deprived myself of features I need in hopes that Reason MIGHT add them. The function of DAWs is pretty simple on a basic level so the learning curve from one to another in most cases is not as large as people think.
Ultimately comes down to workflow though. And despite other programs having what’s considered “more” or “better” features. I keep coming back because it’s the best work environment for me.
Oh there is one thing I completely disagree with her on… she suggests Pro Tools for audio…. Don’t… just don’t… she’s wrong on that. There are better options.

Great video, tried so many other DAWs but end up coming back to reason 11. I like the idea of a significant discount for a upgrade on Reason 12 for loyal customers, maybe bundle it with some RE.
Please reason stop sending me offers for Reason+, I am not interested.
If they ever focus on bringing some workflow improvements to the DAW I would think about upgrading but for now I will stick trying to make the most of my limitations.
Maybe they should open source the DAW and focus on making money from the players, instruments. So many of the improvements like recording multiple midi takes, should not be hard to implement, it seems they have lost interest in it.
I feel not having all the shortcuts and features of other DAWs has made me learn more, so thanks Reason Studios for that!

Interesting that Jelie is jumping ship now. Did the roadmaps push her over the edge? Seems like there was plenty of stuff prior to the roadmaps that has made other users jump ship. I can't imagine she is absolutely done using Reason. I wonder if she's done making R+ soundpacks.
