Reason Studios: New Device live stream 4/20 Reveal
Really nice. That real quick talkbox “California “ got me super interested to try it.

In a nutshell - BV-X is the "pro" vocoder, and BV-512 is more of an "entry level" vocoder. You have to remember, BV-512 is a 19+ year old plugin and runs extremely light. The sound quality you get in BV-X is readily apparent, IMHO - especially "right out of the box".crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑20 Apr 2022It seems a nice package, but I fail to see what it can do that I can't do with BV512 in combination2 (see what I did there ) with some other available stuff.
Yeah, instant-talkbox is pretty amazing. No one likes slobbering into a plastic tube filled with drool to make music!
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
Just had the chance to try this device and I'm pretty excited. I'm not into Vocoded singing etc. although I can hear this kicks BV512 out the park.
What really gets me going are these vocal processing patches, which I can imagine putting on a lot of different instruments and elements. Some pretty wild stuff in there. The little micro effects also adds to the effect arsenal of Reason.

Not only were comments deleted on the stream page, but the dislikes were also nulled. The stream is going to go swimmingly, I'm sure.
I wonder when Ekss vocoder comes out.

Same here. I don't use vocals in my music, but this is going down as a great effect device for me to use on samples, drum machines and synths. Gonna be catching the stream tonight...or later on. If I remember correctly it was labeled at 17.00. And if that's sweden time, it should be soon.

YouTube has disabled "dislikes" for quite some time now. And I'm sure the livestream will be fine. They always are.

In case anyone wants to know the inspiration for the GUI/UX:

Yes! Long since time to eliminate that sloppy part of the process. Sadly no one else seems to have recreated this well. This looks convincing.
The stream hasn’t even gone live yet. I’m sure not much of value has been said.
Wait a few weeks and they will probably bundle it with another recent RE for the same price.

it says compatible with reason 10 and up... I am on 11... how many non-reason12 combinator patches are included?
Or... how many straight Repatch patches are included... anyone? Manual misses patch list from text.

I think they're all repatches if I recall.
After some further playing around, I can definitely say this a superb special effect device. Reminds me of Polyverse's Manipulator

the reason I ask is because some of the patches are stated to be reason 12 combinators...
I am curious how many of the 150 are not R12 combinators? I have hundreds of reward points I could use to get it fairly cheap.
The product page says "It comes with 150+ patches, ranging from classic vocoder sounds to out-of-this-world vocal processing. Whether you’re looking for that classic vocoder sound, subtle harmonies, vocal sweeteners, or sci-fi sounds and robot voices—BV-X has you covered. BV-X Multimode Vocoder is included in Reason+. It is compatible with Reason 10.1 and
later. The included Combinator patches require Reason 12."

It's live - you can rant all you want now.

LOL. I had no intention of watching the live stream, (because I'm not interested in "Player" devices for people that can't play or "Vocoder/Autotune/talkbox" devices for people that can't sing ) But now I AM going to watch it just for the flame war that is coming up in the comments.

Livestream went awesome - discovered some things about BV-X that make it a must-have for me. Also, likes/dislikes aren't terrible (they certainly didn't get ratioed). Seems most users like the device!

I'll bet their servers are getting hammered with all of the BV-X authorizations, but it shouldn't be down. I just logged in fine about 10 seconds ago.

Yeah first of all comments on the livestream chat which are posted before the stream starts disappear after a while. That happens on the YouTube side of things. Similarly, YouTube disabled dislikes on all videos. We didn't do it. If you thought we're hiding something I'm more than happy to share the real data because the video has over 98% likes. So yeah, there's no big conspiracy going on to hide comments or reactions.EnochLight wrote: ↑20 Apr 2022YouTube has disabled "dislikes" for quite some time now.
