Balance not supported. Ignition Key not supported. IK won't work in Windows 11.
Doorstop. Under leg support for shaky table.
What will you use yours for?

I have an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R in mint condition. Driver support ended like 8 months after I bought it new. No driver support after Windows XP. Avid (who bought M-Audio around that time) simply says: just buy something else from us. It's a pretty expensive doorstop now.

It is not the only equipment/doorstop I accumulated over the years of using music gear.

It's better to not use 11. Statistically speaking, 11 is the next Vista.

Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

I tried using my Ignition Key to hold up my window. Forgot they don’t support windows.

I purchased the Stanton Scratch Amp, just before NI & Stanton parted ways, I also have a bunch of CCTV gear from a company that use to be called 247 before they shut down, perhaps in 100 years these will be considered valuable collectables or just end up in a land field somewhere but for now they are dust collecters in my loft.
@MrFigg, love the windows comment ;)

Somewhere I have an original Diamond Rio - a 32 MB MP3 player. It's bigger than a pack of cigarettes and about as stylish but, woo, a whole 32 million bytes to play with. That sure sounds like a lot to me - I'm never going to fill all of that up! I also remember the truly dreadful headphones that came with it but it didn't matter that they were dreadful because you had to use a really low bit rate to get more than a handful of songs on it. Maybe one day there will be a crap retro tech resurgence and I'll get a tenner for it.

@MrFigg, I ignored the terrible windows IK comment

Yeah that. I always wait at least 2 years anyway before adopting a new major Windows version. But the IK not supported anymore? That blows completely.

I'm running 11 Suite using IK authorization on Win 11 all seems fine. Key gets found, RE's get updated no problems.

Should I be worried?

I guess not. It's just if you contact support about some problem with it, they'll happily tell you that it's not supported on Win11.

Perhaps this is just about different levels of "support"?

- Reason Studios said they would stop supporting the Ignition Key, which only means that RS won't update it and it might not work if it isn't supported by the OS.
- Now it's supposedly not supported on Windows 11. Which might just mean that Wibu says it isn't supported on Windows 11 without such-and-such update, but it happens to still work? Maybe just from a tech support angle it isn't supported by Wibu? Maybe a few quirks you haven't encountered yet?

I think the red alarm people will need to keep an eye out for is "does not work on..." ?

We're still talking about Ignition Keys? I thought RS stopped supporting them a while ago?? As for Balance, that was probably one of my most favorite audio interfaces - hated that it failed as a product line. Would loved to have seen a Balance II (more inputs/outputs, lower latency drivers, and no more of that GOD AWFUL RUBBERIZED COATING CRAP)!

Yeah thanks, I kinda figured it had to do with support, well I won't notice a lack of support I suppose, I've not asked for any for years...

Also I think I'll keep the authorizer and codemeter software from updating to the newer versions that came with R12, being as it ain't broke with the R11 install versions.

I haven’t used mine since they introduced local machine authorisation years ago. And yes the rubber cover is a sticky nightmare.

I put my Balance back in the box because the rubber coating was starting to get tacky and it didn't play nice with windows 10.
Still got my IK plugged in for now as I'm not upgrading to windows 11 for a while.
@pushedbutton on twitter, add me, send me a message, but don't try to sell me stuff cos I'm skint.
Using Reason since version 3 and still never finished a song.

Well, in the final analysis then, I guess I'll be using mine for as long as it still works, which it does on W11 with R11.

Clearly I'm more worried about going to R12 than I was about upgrading Windows... :puf_bigsmile:

I like the rubberized coating crap! It feels.... Comfortable. I touch it when nobody's looking.

Mine is sitting in a display cabinet along with an Atari 2600 and other gadgets.

I thought the IK was abandonware with no support for any OS anway? Was I mistaken?
