I've gone from reason suite to reason plus. I got it for the offer of £100.
I'm now in the position where my R+ runs out at the end of the month and now my decision is, stay at R11 suite, upgrade to 12 or continue the subscription. £20 a month is very steep. Im really underwhelmed by the sound packs. They're alright and a bit of fun / nice way to learn how different people go about building sounds but I mostly don't use them.
So if I upgrade (£200)!I get the combinator, mimic, high Res and the shit show that is the faster browser which doesn't really doesn't feel like decent value to me. It kind of feels like they've really pushed how hard they've worked on it (especially the high Res) It looks great but it does kind of feel like that's an industry standard. Something that should have been free.
I don't own baseline generator (i honestly hate it). Pattern mutator (love it). Algorithm (love it). Mimic (love it). Friktion (it's ok).
I'm just in a conundrum.
I've recently started Ableton and man, I really like it. The DAW/sequencer is just miles and miles better. It's just so much more easy to use. I also recently bought robotic beans 'sequences' which is spectacular. Puts pretty much every RS players to shame.
I'm rambling. I turned 40 last year and perhaps im just not as interested in it as I have been. I'm not really a fan of the subscription model. I like to own what I have. Perhaps my expectations are too high.
Ive been fairly happy with reason up until R12 / R+. They stuff they're doing is still good but I think there's better value and quality else where.
TLDR it feels like we're splitting up. It's not you it's me xxx

Stay on R11. That's my vote.

I got 12 for the hires, as some things were unreadable on my screen in 11. However, the new combinator turned out to be the biggest thing for me. It's already awesome what is being built with that and freely available.

Remember the music you create on 12, +, the files are incompatible with R11. You can't go back.
You may have no choice, if you want to keep everything, to stay on + or purchase 12. I guess you could create audio files and reload back into 11.

Never!
Well that's me convinced.
Won't be subscribing again. Any idea if R12 will be on sale any time soon?
I have to agree
I read somewhere that they've actually been take over by a different company. Is this true?
I'm being lazy. I'll go read up on it. Thanks for the replies and consolidation

It will probably take a while before they put R12 on sale. They've been very stubborn about pushing the subscription.
Keep an eye on May Madness?

Build a time machine, travel back to just before you spent the £100 and put it towards a perpetual licence instead of the subs. Sorted.Barriott wrote: ↑25 Jan 2022I've gone from reason suite to reason plus. I got it for the offer of £100.
