Strymon Reverb...or another? Anybody?

Want to talk about music hardware or software that doesn't include Reason?

The Jazzmaster is finally in the post. Woohoo!!! I've got reverb on my Hotrod Deluxe but we all know that we can't have enough reverb right? Was looking at the TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2pedal...whole load of algorithms and cheap at around €100. Unfortunately it's sold out everywhere. Been heqaring good things a bout the Strymon Big Sky which is 5 times the price. Then there's Empress and the Eventide at around the same as the Strymon. So...anybody convince me one way or the other...or any other brand for that matter. Thanks.

If you're looking to bliss out on long reverb, Night Sky is such a great option in hardware. I'm dying to get the new Eurorack Starlab but need to get a new rack first (and may as well get a Magneto at the same time, no?).

That’s exactly what I want to do. Cocteaus style. So night sky is a lot different from big sky?

Night Sky has shimmer and other cool pitch effects, Big Sky is just a sweet long reverb (can't go wrong with either, really). I don't have either but a long time collaborator has both and we just finished a project together so I got to hear plenty of both! ;)

Aha. I actually thought big sky had shimmer too. I’ve been reading comparisons and a lot of people do like HOF2. That’d do me fine but like I said it’s currently sold out everywhere.

The HOF 2 is nice, I have one, and it is quiet edditebale with the software. But: Strymon is a different beast, much better.

What’s better about it if you can?
I’m looking at the HOF 2x4 just now. Totally mental amount of control with 4 mash switches and 10 algos.

Do you know how it compares to Space.? Apparently that one includes the Black Hole algorithm.

Space has more algos...including Blackhole. I remember when it came out. I'm old.

Almost on the point of getting the HOF 2x4. The shimmer on it sounds pretty sharp on the demo videos I've watched though. I think the pedal just pitches up the incoming signal an octave and there doesn't appear to much going on other than that. May be different in real life. It's a good price and it's like having 4 HOF2 pedals at a little over twice the price of one. Hmmm...it's a one off purchase though (haha...yeah right) so might be better letting myself calm down a bit before deciding. Too impulsive.
I'm old too.

The Strymon sounds a bit more organic, from what I noticed playing with it. A friend of mine - who I never see anymore - has one. At his place I played with it.

I have to say the Shimmer on the Hof2 is more then decent though!!!! In real life it is very nice my friend!!!!

Hahahaha...you really think so. I put it in my basket then checked back to see what your reply was. If you were to buy it again though which version would you get?

Looks like one of my posts disappeared for some reason. I meant which of the two between the HOF2 and the HOF2x4 would you buy if you had the chance to buy them again?

I'm a simpel guitarist and soundscaper, so I would buy the normal HOF2 again.

I have mostly a spring or a plate reverb selected......and always on, never play without reverb. I use the HOF2 in front of my Fender '73 SF Champ, and in the loop of my Marshall DSL1CR I have a EHX Holy Grail Nano. Also On spring and always on......

I mostly use my Fender amp, with the HOF2.
