I'm not new to Logic, but I've rarely used MIDI control in it. I've got Sequences driving a Vintage EP, note data goes just fine, and I also want to modulate the Drive with a Sequences CV lane. I've patched the CV1 lane into CV 1 Out on the MIDI device, set it to CC#20 (Drive Gain on the Vintage EP, according to the manual). The CV data goes out from the RRP, I can see it, but nothing happens in the Vintage EP.

I've also tried mapping it to an external MIDI CC#, and also tried Bipolar instead of Unipolar. No joy.

Anyone have ideas about what I'm missing here?

I took a look, and it looks like you have to set the "MIDI Mode" to "Full Remote" for that particular instrument.
You should see the option if you expand the menu at the bottom of the plugin window:

Perfect! Thanks! I'm guessing this might be true in general.
