So this was a job I did for a client (the singer).
She composed the song, however the arrangement was done by yours truly.
Technicalities...
Everything done in reason with an assortment of Stock devices, Re's and VST's:
Drums: Reason Drum Kits 2 (refill version) Claustrofobe AF
Bass: Reason Electric Bass Stingray Fretless Producer patch
Piano: Reason Piano's Life's what you make it patch
Strings, sustain and short patches from Stringwerk
Guitar: Steinberg virtual Guitarist 2 "Ringashaka" (still working after all these years... with JBridge)
Process was simple, Carlota (the singer and songwriter) sent me a simple piano track and vocals, and some ideas of layers, plus tempo info.
Then i composed the full arrangement over her tracks and sent it back with new vocal layers (done in reason Pitch editor) so that she could learn them.
We set up a vocal recording session, we recorded 11 different layers plus main vocal.
Mixing and Mastering were all done in reason (mixing with very light compression, Selig curve and de-esser on most - if not all - vocals). The "I can hear you" vocal has chenille for soft chorus. I used a short and a long reverb plate and Oak room from RV7000 and for the dreamy vocals, I'm adding a long thicker reverb from Rob Papen (RB Verb). Mixing with light compression mostly from the main mixer, selig curve in vocals and MCDsp Moo on instruments. EQ from SSL too, and 1 red queen instance.
Mastering also in reason (Kuassa MP-5 -> McDsp C670 -> Softube Tape -> Izotope Ozone 9).
Hope you like it!
