How are you guys with larger monitors getting along with R12s new scaling feature? - or are you keeping things at 100%
Curious what you would choose, a 34" Ultrawide 3440x1440 or a 32" 4K 3840x2160
Im still on a single 27" 2560x1440
Feel free to share screen captures.
Cheers gents/ladies.

I have a 4k monitor.
I was actually shocked at how tiny it makes everything.

Not just Reason but like windows, menus etc.

So ultimately I scale my OS up to 150%.
At that scaling it's barely any difference from a UHD monitor.

Only of course Reason now far crisper and clearer at 100%.

I find it weird having a tiny mouse and large instruments.

Over the years I've had a few different displays and I've always used the 1920x1080 resolution for them just about anything above that makes reading anything a pain without zooming so I just set a lower resolution and forget about it.

I was looking at an ultra wide but decided against it for my main display however I was considering having one as a dedicated mixer display laid flat ish on the desktop in front of the main display but given the cost vs usage I gave up on the idea.

I've increased size from old 17" to modern 32" and I think anything over 27" at 1920 x 1080 is perfect for something that you sit in front of especially if you're reading and don't want to keep zooming/scaling everything in and out all the time

I guess to answer the question it's really more about what space you have on the desktop and what else you use it for. I would probably choose 4K rather than ultra wide

I think a standard aspect ratio has more viewable surface area than an ultrawide. I’d go with 4k for that reason (you can always scale up a bit). I think that would give the most flexibility.

For DAWs I much prefer a two monitor setup and those monitors don't have to be cutting edge and thus can be sensibly priced. I guess it depends on your budget and how much space you have. I can't get my head around those of you who use a single laptop screen for Reason or anything else DAW-like!

I have a curved 32" 2560x1440 and it's fine for me I have reason zoomed to 120% witch makes it the same as when I was using Reason 11 on my old 27" imac but gives my more screen still

I have actual a BenQ BL3200PT 81,3 cm (32 Zoll) LED Monitor (WQHD 2560 X 1440 Pixel) and use it with Reason 11. So, no zooming until now. I use it at the native, original 100 % scaling.
So, I would prefer the 34" Ultrawide 3440x1440.

I've got a 34" UWQHD (3340x1440) and I think a 32" would be better (at least for my usage).

I find myself having to turn my head when using applications with a vertical split, but it does seem okay for DAWs I guess.

It's hard to gauge without first trying it out because it will also depend on where you place the monitor and your eyesight.

I was thinking about getting a 32" 4K monitor to replace my 32" 2K one. But wondering if it would be worth it for the reasons you mentioned? If it just makes everything look super tiny so I have to upscale Windows how much better, if at all, would it look? Not sure it's worth the upgrade. Happy with my current monitor. So only want to upgrade if I'll get a real benefit from a new monitor. Of course the quality of the monitor is going to have a huge bearing on this. But I'm just thinking about 4K in general compared to what I have now

i have a 4K teve. not monitor.
so i voted for 4k option.

for me it is important the Y axis.
the height of the display.
so i can see as much lanes at one time as possible. - without need to tinner them.

so that's the main reason why i chosed 4K teve.

Wouldn't use any of those mentioned.

I use a 32" 1920x1080 full HD monitor and never have those scaling issues.

If I ever is going to use a 4k it must be at least a 43" else objects
getting way to small and must be enlarged.
And why use a monitor where you have to enlarge applications ?
Many older applications is not suitable to be enlarge anyway.

The quality and pixel size on a full HD (1920x1080) 32" is more than acceptable to me. :-)

For me using 3x full HD (1920x1080) with one in portrait orientation is the way to go.

As I mentioned before I have a 32" 2K monitor (2560 x 1440). This is spot on for me. Loads more screen real estate than my previous monitor, which was smaller and 1920 x 1080, and everything is just about the right size. I have Reason set to just 110% zoom so things are a little larger, for the smaller more fiddly controls and I don't lose very much screen space. I just don't think a 4K monitor is going to do much for me at this size (32"). Maybe a 34", if there is such a thing. But I'd probably still have to upscale Windows. Is it worth it? Maybe if it was a really high quality monitor.

I have to say, I've always been hugely impressed with the screens on the iMac's. Fantastic quality and sharpness. They realy nail the displays. It helps that the product line is more focused I'm sure. Too many variables with Windows and a separate monitor - monitor size, resolution, panel quality, desktop scaling, brightness and contrast, pixel density etc, etc. Mac displays obviously just work with Mac OSX. I don't think you have these concerns at all with a Mac ................. Okay, so new 4K monitor for my Windows PC or a new iMac?! :?

An other thing to consider is finding the correct placement for the speakers
especially when using a ultra wide monitor.
You must then move further away to have the correct listening position
but then it's also getting more difficult to see the small objects on the monitor.

You could move the speakers above the monitor but this will not give the optimal listening position.
And why compromise the sound because of a new monitor? ;)
