We all know you can use Reason in Ableton... but now you can use Ableton in Reason! (Well, sorta)
Background:
- One of the most handy and commonly used effect devices in Ableton is the Utility
This device:
- This is a recreation of the Ableton Utility, using only stock reason devices - so it will work with everybody
- Includes the M/S crossfader, bass mono+solo, left and right phase inversion
- As well Stereo Channel Swap and Left (or Right) Channel Solo
- Standard utilities such as Gain, Balance, Mono and Mute
Doesn't include:
- DC Offset (maybe someone can advise if this can be done?)
Challenges and Lessons:
To get the Mid/Side crossfader working was tricky, as I needed to maintain the true stereo original signal when the dial was at 12 o'clock
Essentially I had to create a three-way crossfader, which was achieved using duplicate dry signals and mutes.
Feel free to use, hope it's helpful!
Let me know if there are any issues.

okay, this is really cool... Utility is on every track in Ableton, because it’s just super useful. I’ve been using Kilohearts’ Gain in Reason for volume trimming, but always need to reach for other devices to handle the rest (mono-izing low frequencies is a big one). if/when I upgrade, this will be one of the first things I’ll want to install. great idea!
