Finally finished this... our forum member Tritoneaddiction gave me a short track of his to work with and together with my musical partner Michiel we created this remix. I sampled some of my old and forgotten 90ies vinyl and Michiel also played some guitar. Soundtoys Echoboy is still my friend, too.

I've also made a playlist of recent remixes I made, makes a nice 'mini album'

Smooth. It felt at times as if dub and new wave had a baby.

Awesome. Nice job man.
Nice to hear the final version. Definitely made it your own, which is how a cover/remix should be done.
This is the sort of track that really shines when listening through headphones. Otherwise you don't get the full experience from all those trippy stereo delays.
Love that deep bass too.

thanks that's great to hear and thanks for letting us remix the tune! It took a long time because of covid but we got there. One thing I did here is use the reverb from the flute patch in The Legend as a send FX and I also sent some of the output of the delays to that verb so the echoes seem to 'diffuse into' the reverb. Bass is Oberon. The little flute-like flourishes are actually my friends bass guitar, pitched up 3-4 octaves.

No drum shuffle drop on 2:21 after that perfect lead-in?
I feel tricked, backstabbed and, quite possibly, bamboozled. Near-perfect job overall, but it's not drum and bass. I don't get it. :?

Thanks for the kind words. Regarding my treachery, I did consider dropping a fast beat after that break but I consciously decided I would resist the urge and keep the track a bit more chill. It does go into D&B territory later on though, right?

Edit: how are those poppy tracks of yours coming along? Why is dynamite not in the top 40 yet? You're slacking ;)

Great remix, as always. The island vibes take me back to the islands for a few minutes. I'm really surprised the flute-y sounds is a bass guitar. Pretty clever idea.

Would be curious to hear a remix of that remix with more of that shuffle feel though, someday, maybe

Took Teflon's suggestion of taking a step back to work on multiple projects and let dynamite sit on ice for the time being. I may upload some soon(ish). And who cares about the top 40 anyway - that's just lowly and defeatist. Like the wing-footed Hermes, I am so marvelous and resplendent, those charts will crumble under the weight of my caduceus. Someday. :D

Thanks, much appreciated man! The bass guitar as flute idea was more of a happy accident than anything, my friend recorded some bass loops but because I wanted to play with my synths I never used them so I felt a bit guilty and tried to incorporate them in some other way. I'm also glad the vibe is kind of consistent through these different tracks.
I'd love to do another dub style remix of a vocal track at some point BTW!

I don't know what you mean by "shuffle feel" ... Could you give an example of the direction you feel the track should have taken?

eh pity I was already imagining a QSD dub reggae remix for a moment there, Hermes ;)

Anyway, I love doing remixes so if anyone happens to read this that has a track that's dying for a journey to QSD dub land, I'd love to hear about it!

Cool track! Just close your eyes and let it wash over you… I’m glad it doesn’t fully kick off even though it does pick up, I like the way it teases… Is there a bit of Screamadelica influence in there? Great production 👌

My man loves his delays! Another great remix! Busy and dreamy at the same time. Auryn you've really made me reexamine my use of delays (or lack thereof). You're remixes have inspired me to have more fun in the world of delays, so I'm going to start laying it on thicker.

Wow I love Screamadelica although I don't play it much these days as it's so doe-eyed and it doesn't fit my mood. I'm pretty sure you're thinking of 'Inner Flight' there on account of the flutes. I do appreciate the compliment, although most of the credit for the flute action must go to @TritoneAddiction

Hey GOR how have you been? Thanks for listening. Yeah, I can't really praise echoboy enough, it's really an instrument unto itself. Any new music in the pipeline?

I'm great thanks for asking Auryn. Yeah, I've definately got music in the pipeline, I'm just kind of stuck on completing them. I'm into releasing albums rather than singles, so that slows me down. I do need to be more productive.

And I don't know why i didn't get echoboy when it was on sale. I guess The Echo will just have to do for now. I did get decapitator from soundtoys and I frickin love it. I don't ever want to be without it now.
