Cannot get keyboard to play devices but does not appear to be surface locking

Hi there
I am new to reason and have reason intro connected to a nektar t4 keyboard. I am in the middle of a song and have used 8 of the available 16 tracks. 2 for audio 1 for ezdrummer as a vst and the remaininng for reason devices ( piano and flutes). I have just added another audio track without a problem but if i pull up any reason instrument the keyboard wont play it and there is no indication the signal is getting to reason. However if i open up a new song i do not have this problem. I have checked the surface configurations which all look correct. I assume i have somehow disabled something in the song i am working on. Any suggestions?
